Paris Olympics 2024: World's Longest Rowing Boat to Take Part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay

The longest rowing boat in the world was to take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch relay on Sunday (July 21) just a few days before the start of the Olympic Games. Called the Stampfli 24 Express, this rowing boat is unique. While the maximum rowers in competitions is eight, this one takes 24 people on board, plus a coxswain. Being 40 metres in length, the boat comes in six pieces to be assembled to form one very long rowing boat. The Swiss manufacturers, Stampfli Racing Boats, make traditional rowboats for official competitions but the 24 Express is one of kind for them and only serves for big occasions.

Odd, seat #22 (i.e. 3rd from the stern, just behind the stern pair) is empty in some of the footage. I wonder why? 🤔

It may be the longest skull boat but actually that is not the longest row boat in the world. That title belongs to the royal Thai barge Suphannahong which is 46 meters long built from a single teak log and takes a great many oarsman to row it.
