Don't forget he also holds the world record for EVERY age group too. He OWNS the Pole Vault!

All of this and to think he’s only 24. His parents are former athletes and introduced him to pole vaulting at very young age. They’ve been coaching him every step of the way. What their family has accomplished together through hard work and dedication is nothing short of inspiring as it is legendary. As a family they created a world class son. Their coaching and support over the past twenty years have been very fruitful. Happy for the whole family!

Why are you talking like it's a debate? 😭

He's very, very obviously the GOAT of pole vault.

He has broken the world record in almost every major championship in the past four years. That’s crazy!! 😮

I like what the announcer said that made so much sense. He said he runs to to runway carrying the pole at 23 MPH and when he plants the pole he has so much speed it acts as a slingshot sending him up and over. Man waiting to the last attempt in the last event on the night and had the crowed pumped. Heck I was pumped. He is definitely a GOAT.

I’m convinced bro has been able to vault much higher for a while now. But breaks the WR in small segments to get the extra cash

Bolt = Speed and Duplantis = Heights. They also have very cool last names that matches their talents.

Bubka doesn’t even come near this man. Total and utter dominance at another level

i am honestly kinda annoyed about people still holding onto Bubka. Sure he broke the record 35 times! BUT its not like he was restricted to not go further and just do 6.25. Simple logic, beating the world record 35 times is amazing, but this guy has jumped 11cm higher, and we all know he can go even further. Or in short ''jumping higher is harder''

The pole vault is a strange event. It takes upper body strength to use the pole, lower body strength to jump off, foot speed to even get near bending the pole into a usable jump position, gymnastics skill to twist yourself up and around the bar, and finally, raw courage because you never know when that pole is going to break and send you to the emergency room. In many ways the pole vault is a better indicator of who's the best all-around athlete than the Decathalon. Kudos to this guy! He's not in a glamour event, he's not an oppressed or abused minority, or a woman. He's not a refugee from a brutal third world dictatorship. And because he's none of those things the media couldn't care less about him, and he knows that. He knows he's just an ordinary guy with a really great athletic ability that won't get him squat unless he breaks another record. He also doesn't appear to pander to the "Look at me, I'm the greatest" mentality pioneered by Carl Lewis in the 1990's and intensified many times over by every track athlete since. Why, I'll bet he didn't even post an Instagram picture of his breakfast this morning. Good for him! He'll be forgotten by next week, but he won't be gone. He'll be out there doing something which he apparently really loves to do, and he'll be really good at it. That's where the victory is. When you contrast him with that female sprinter with the ludicrously long fingernails and the ego bigger than the Olympic stadium, you can see how far sportsmanship has fallen and why. I hope the world doesn't let that pass by, unnoticed.
