Thanks … one chap on the net said that while you are doing this you should plug the leads that go back to the common rail so that air doesn’t get in.

Yes. Very good. I always do same now. After been stung with a diesel specialist. Who had my pants right down. As being one injector down. But they went a changed all 4 of them regardless. And charged over a grand . So makes sense to do leak test. And buy a recon injector and fit myself. And recode with a launch programmer if needed. Fully enjoyed seeing you do that. Really was interesting.👍

it needs three injectors in it, also replace the pipes from the rail to the injector and torque up

I believe common rail fuel pressure is alot higher than 2000 psi, more like 2000 bar (29000 psi) or even higher with more modern diesels

I work for a motor factors and by coincidence a garage I called at today were doing a diesel leak off test.
As you say definitely two injectors need replacement, it might be worth replacing the third one depending on cost. If you replace all 3 you will have future proofed it.

When you change injector make sure you take note of the codes and wich bore you put them in as they need coding and you cant see them with rocker cover on

How about trying to clean the bad injectors in an ultrasonic cleaner, pulsing them whilst running through some injector cleaning solution.

i reckon you`ve got 3 injectors which are cream crackered mate, really it needs 4 injectors in it and as most injectors pack up within a few thousand miles of each other, you might as well get a WHOLE set of 4, and that`s going to cost what the jag`s worth, UNLESS your either going to rebuild them yourself which is not that hard or buy recon injectors which if your keeping the jag, is a no no.

Does this test shows if the injector is stuck closed right? Is this test useless if the injector open?

I guess what Im saying is that it is more likely that the Inj2 is the opwn one and needs replacing where's the other 3 are ok. Wouldn't that make more logical sense.
