Some of the best brush playing I've ever heard. Fantastic lesson.

This is a lesson in not judging a book by its cover. If you saw this guy walking around the rehearsal space, you might see him as the drummer for Marilyn Manson or Foreigner, but who would've guessed that he was a straight-up brush master? So much respect.

He's like a dancer! He moves and feels the beat in such a way that if I close my eyes, I can see the movement! Amazing! 😘

Thank you this is fabelous and creative. I am a new drummer, 62 and loving it. I use brushes a lot becasue the places our band plays have very basic drum sets. Brushes are so versatile... try the nylon ones.. Ive been making my ownout of bits and pieces I have in the shed. My cord tie brushes are heavy duty, they sound very raw...Try the wire brushes on the cojon ..sounds great

What an amazing lesson. I love how prepared he was, and I LOVE that he kept it all about sound - every technique and approach was about the sound it produces, and what we can add to the music with brushes. That being said, I would love if you guys brought him back for a follow up to discuss how to expand upon this. Every time I learn the basics of brushes it's enlightening, but I can't quite cross the gap into filling like he does in this video and getting more comfortable adding the flourishes and patterns that make brush playing really exciting without losing the flow. I'd love to get more insight, from him in particular, into how to go beyond the principles discussed here and become a killer brush player.
