😎 Sean Daniel

⭐ Andrea and Sean
--------------------------
A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his YouTube channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

I like the inversions shapes, the E inversion is from then D caged shape but with the G# added as the Bass note .
The Major 7th chords to me really bring out the soulful feeling and are just so musical in comparison to other chords and also my favourite chords!
The Great thing about playing the inversion chords (in the D Shaped for example) is that you can become a two in one guitarist, you can then also play the bass lines!

Thank you note disguised in a long story:
Tried to learn guitar a few times in my youth but failed every time (52 years old now). About a month ago while cleaning up the house, throwing away stuff that was collecting dust in the basement, I came across my unplayable acoustic Yamaha ( awfull action) and a 1971 Gold Ibanez Les Paul that someone gave me in the 80's but never played it before. My first reflex was to sell as I had no interest of failing AGAIN, so went online to see if the Ibanez had any value but for some reason, one of your vid showerd up.Because of that, I decided to clean the Gold Ibanez and try it out unplugged.Hmmmm! that was actually fun, and watched more of your vids. I was hooked and went out and bought a small Amp.Took 40 years to hear the sound of that Ibanez. Anyways, just want to say thank you for what you are doing, you have a way of teaching that inspires many of us I'm sure. Greatings from Montreal, Canada.

Sean, this is the very best lesson I’ve seen you do in terms of combining theory and practice in a not too difficult or advanced sort of way. Bravo!

When I'm not busy trying to qualify for a blues pole position I'm down at guitar center getting to play an original 56 strat! Cheers Sean

Yo, I really got to say, that you're fantastic. It's really easy to get discouraged and not want to think about becoming better at something that is fundamentally very hard, but your videos are always easy to put on even when I don't want to. Good show

I recently discovered that form and use it all the time. Great lesson! I love when you are the professor.

Unrelated to this bid but had to share; I had a game changer, ,, I bought a “Takamine” eg540c
The notes are so clear and resonance makes me hang onto notes longer and become more intentional, plus I’m practicing the picking exercise .. thanks Sean.

You say you have a tendency to talk fast... I think that means you pack a lot into a 10 - 15 minute video! That said I can usually catch about 20% of what you’re teaching and that’s still enough to keep me coming back. Maybe one day I’ll rewatch these and get 100% of the concepts! 🤞

Another way to think about the inversion with the 3rd as the lowest note, compared to the root as the lowest note, is to think "unstable" vs "stable" vibe. So if your lyrics express uncertainty or fear, etc., use the unstable version of the chord for reinforcement...

Love the voicings! I'm gonna play around with this next time I get a chance. Need to file the nut on that fender. Shes going sharp in the open. Love that stick tho!! Great video Sean! Love your sense of humor. I look forward to your uploads. 👍👍

Here's a question: if you've got a major triad CEG, it's first inversion will be EGC and it's second inversion will be GCE. Other valid permutations (or combinations... I can never remember which is which...) are CGE, ECG and GEC...how are these described in terms of inversions?
What happens when you have four note chords like CEGBb?

Do you find that D Major is the most prevalent key upon which hit songs are based? In my process of learning music theory, that has been one of the unspoken trends I seem to have noticed...I have never heard mention of it, but made note of it myself - the vast majority of my favorites were D Major

Been wanting to get into exploring chord voicings lately. I guess learning some more Elliott Smith songs would be an excellent way to do that :)

love this chord - learned it about a year ago (along with about a half dozen other great-sounding inversions) when I learned the etude that Paul Davids has on his channel. Sorry for the plug for someone else but come on... Paul Davids, Seán Daniel, all first names, so what's the difference?
