Realising The Role of Basic Science in Translational Research Centres: Are We There Yet?

A private workshop event held on 17th May 2017 to support the goals of the following groups who are affiliated to a NSW Translational Cancer Research Centre (TCRC): Basic researchers, and T2-T4 researchers, clinicians, and community of practice members with an interest in the translational pipeline.
WORKSHOP AIMS
- Assist T1 researchers to identify and prioritise to align their research to meet the objectives and capabilities of the TCRCs
- Facilitate partnerships within and between TCRCs to fulfil the transition of T1 research through the continuum right through to implementation (T1-T4).
- Enable T1 researchers to articulate the significance of their work to optimise grant success.

Adjunct Professor Nik Zeps, Group Director of Research at Epworth HealthCare, Melbourne
Associate Professor Alexander Engel, Chair for the Colorectal MDT at RNSH and NSLHD and director of Sydney Vital TCRC
Professor Tim Shaw, Professor of eHealth and Director of the Research in Implementation Science and eHealth group at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Sydney
Professor Anna deFazio, Sydney West Chair in Translational Cancer Research, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology
Professor Philip Hogg, Director at the ACRF Centenary Cancer Research Centre
