As a drummer who is just a weekend warrior playing in a room, please keep up the work on how to record drums in a inexpensive manner. The more we can do to bring back live drum performances to recordings, the better.

Glenn I'd really like to hear what the raw tracks hear like when you do reviews like these. It can show where you started from, but I think what it really shows is that there is still a significant amount of skill involved in mixing to get them to sound great, and that something that may seem mediocre is actually pretty decent in the right hands of someone who knows what to do with them.

These sound good man. If I may suggest you should try using these mics against your DW drums and the lower end kit and compare just to see if there’s any difference at all. That’d be interesting to see.

I wish this video came out earlier. I bought an Apex Kick Drum mic a couple weeks ago and I've been getting all my mics individually instead of in a kit. The plan is to learn how to record live drums and suck at it till I get something that sounds good.

These sound quite alright for the price, but the kick mic was a little on the clicky side and the toms could do with some more low end as well. I'd probably still go for the Samson kit :)

The t.bone line is typically Superlux. The Kick is for certain a PRA218Pro. Placement, a good percussionist, tuned drums, and a great Engineer matters too, a lot. Cheers. Thomann is excellent.
