To all those saying that jane was the god of thunder, please get to know this, she isn't the elemental god like thor is, she can only control lighting because she wields Mjolnir. As Odin said in the first thor movie "whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy shall posses the power of thor", thus, jane got her powers once she picked up Mjolnir
