Guild Wars 2 - How to unlock the Jackal

It's nothing all that difficult to unlock but, since it's not part of the story, I thought I'd leave this here for the Jackal enthusiasts.

finally someone who explains how to get there...I have been running in circles in the desolation to find the right way to the Jackal location, I was indeed inside the Awakened quarters but never occurred to me to go up the stairs xD. Thanks a lot

You don't need the springer mount, skimmer is enough. There is a part around the back where you can get up on the skimmer :)

I don't think you mentioned that you have to master either the springer or skimmer mount before you can get it.

Not sure if it has changed or what, but you now must fully master springer or skimmer before you can do the heart for the area.

you also need full mastery of the springer and the skimmer as the heart quest will not unlock, had to find that out the hard way

Ooeff. It was minor struggle. But managed too get 4 mounts in a day. Eventho raptor was already unlocked, you unlock it a 2th time by doing path of fire story. Doing story is ez path of fire exp wich i need for the raptor lv 3 upgrade. After that you can choose too do the rabbit and the swim mount. One of wich has too be lv 3 too unlock jackal. Heart wont pop up otherwise. Same for for unlocking rabbit and swim mount with raptor. Suggest leveling rabbit since its faster then the swim mount for some reason. Just find a Meta train run from experienced players. Follom them arround do all sorts events for fast and loads of exp. Doing this will drop u the 200 letters u need for jackal too. Aswell for the swimmount. Exotics and even legendary recipes and mats. After that follow this vid and youll be set. Imo jackal is the best ground and jumping mount out there. Time for griffin and skyscale now :3

There's a way to get there with only the skimmer, north of the main palace there is a string of floating, shattered stairs that leads to a platform in the midst of the sulfur pits, the stairs are too far apart for the raptor w/ canyon jumping, but thats not an issue, there's a nearly invisible walkway leading from stair to stair until you reach the palace. you can distinguish the transparent walkway by the sand that flows over it, theres just enough for a best preformance setting pc to tell sand from air apart. hope this helps any newcomers in the comments

You can glide right onto the rock from the quicksand while on your Skimmer.

I can confirm that this is accessible with solely the skimmer and none of it's mastery. Springer is unnecessary.

I tried it his way and ended up dying while trying to get my springer over to the platform. Just happens i had the Sand Jackal Run waypoint which allowed me to go there on my skimmer and have no difficulty getting up on the platform from that side.

Damnit... this mount requires Springer lvl 3, I went there with springer lvl 1, and no heart :(

Everyone you can’t mount while taking damage anymore. Just mount the springer at the waypoint and hop your azz over. You will make it. You have to use the springer skill, not just jump.

That's weird because as soon as I got to the top of the sand stairs... there isn't any

You said "by 100% the maps" what do you mean by that? unlock all the discovery points, teleporters, and interest points? Anything else?

Do you need the spriggan or skimmer with all masteries or do you just need up to the three?
