None of the symptoms but still PARANOID

As a non-mechanical person that was absolutely the best description I have seen of any video to give me a good visualization of how the head gasket works and the fluids that go up in between all those different holes

U forgot ur almost going home on Friday and ur boss asked u to come in on Saturday....that will definitely blow a head gasket.

Quite often the HG will breach before it fully blows. This typically occurs between the cylinder and the coolant channels and doesn't result in a fluid exchange. What happens is the breach is too small to let coolant into the cylinder but upon acceleration, combustion gases get forced through the breach into the coolant channel. As the gas passes the temperature sensor, the temperature gauge on your dash goes up. Letting off the gas completely will stop forcing gas into the coolant channel and the gauge will slowly drop. The engine isn't actually overheating, but the HG is doomed. I learned this the hard way when I was younger and didn't know much about engines. Had a 99 Civic, It drove me crazy, I ended up changing all the primary cooling parts- fan relay, temp sensor, thermostat, radiator - which didn't fix the problem, and then someone recommended I get the radiator sniffed at a smog shop. Sure enough, hydrocarbons were present.

My truck has been overheating, I have replaced the radiator, top and bottom hoses, thermostat, coolant reservoir, & water pump I do not have milky oil nor white smoke.

This happened to my car, had all the symptoms and I didn’t know but got it into the shop before it got worse. I’m sure in January when I got my oil change is when i now notice the first symptom of milky oil. Mechanic told me it could be from cold weather and roving short distances. Thank you for the explanation of the head gasket, I didn’t know the purpose of it.

This is a great video. My S10 is leaking oil, and I thought maybe it’s the head gasket, but from all you explained here, I’m having none of those problems.
So you probably saved me some time tearing apart my engine for nothing.

Don’t forget #6

Extra coolant in the overflow tank but low coolant inside the radiator. That means the head gasket is allowing air into the system, which will cause the engine to overheat.

Hello, thank you for your video. Dear friend, I need to say that when the gasket on the cylinder head gasket burns, the water hoses inflate, and if water leaks into the cylinder, there is very little ice in the water, which makes us realize this damage faster.

Actually it's more often cracked head than blown head gasket. Initial sign, in my experience is when you see vapor-like smoke coming from the coolant exp.tank, when you start the engine. Everything is fine, temperature is ok, hoses are ok, pressure inside the cooling system is ok, just there is some smoke there and you can see very thin skim, barely visible, floating on the coolant surface in the exp.tank. Be 99% sure that there is a problem with the engine's head or even a block. It is easy test to perform when you wanna buy a used car. Start the engine with the cap off the exp.tank and watch with the flashlight pointed into coolant. If you see a smoke after 3-4 minutes coming from there and more, if you see that tiny skim there, be almost sure that you are buying a huge problem. Just get away from that car.

Unfortunately I have a few of these symptoms a cloud of white smoke once in a while and loss of horsepower the car hesitates while accelerating down the highway it's really annoying but it's periodically.

Getting my headgasket replaced and head skimmed. My symptoms was light white smoke out the exhaust when at a traffic light. No over heating. However, my car would sometimes start limping and misfiring (it's not sparks or anything trust me). The other thing is it was running pretty rich and guzzling fuel. Mechanic said I caught the failure really early causing a slight compression issue in cylinder 2. Coolant wasnt running out quickly but he noticed when doing the bubble test a bit of bubbling was happening. It is an MGZR which even though it had a headgasket replaced 40k ago, it wasn't a good one. They are skimming, cleaning and putting an updated, modern and better gasket in. I'm hoping this fixes my issues I should be getting it back tomorrow.. after spending nearly £1k on all these upgrades and repairs.
