Fun Fact: As vampires are derived from Slavic mythology, it was originally believed that they turned into owls, not bats.

Fun fact: there were cages over coffins to stop grave robbings as people would do that a lot in the old times to make money

The first one isn't vampire cages, they were used to keep people from stealing the corpse. Back then people wanted cadavers that were actually living at one point.

The cages aren't for vampire graves, they're to protect graves from being robbed. Grave robbing was a popular criminal activity back in the day.

The caged tombs aren’t because of vampires. It was actually so people couldn’t break into the graves and mess with the dead person’s body, or something along those lines.

people in the olden times actually thought albino people were vampires and hunted them. slowly the lore changed from the original description (white hair) to the one we know today.

There were cages on the graves so people didn’t dig them up. Something like that.

in 1828 there were 2 men : Burke and Hare known as body snatchers in edinburgh and they took peoples corpses from their graves. that is why the cages are held over peoples graves to stop them from getting in. There were also body snatchers that were alive in earlier times & later.

The fences you see around the graves, where used to stop grave robbers from stealing the bodies or the valuables they kept with them as some people did that. Also people where a lot more stupid 200-300 years ago, well most of the time.

The cages were for grave robbers, selling cadavers was big money back then. The vampire kits were a superstitious novelty when TB became a pandemic and consumption was still undiagnosed as cancer believing people were being sucked dry by vampires(the family members killed by those diseases)

Depending how old the graves are the cages could also be there to prevent thieves from stealing the corpses or just to keep them safe from animals possibly digging them up
