I had a chance to ride a camel at the Great Pyramid, and gave it a pass. Animals are woefully mistreated in Egypt these days.

And the "ancient egyptians" have long been replaced by an overwhelming population of Arabs since Muslims conquered Egypt in 641. Only about 10% of Egypt is currently populated by descendants of ancient egyptian people - in the form of the Coptic population.

Utterly fascinating, however the artefacts should all be returned to Egypt where they belong. I honestly believe that all original artefacts taken from countries should be returned by the occupying powers who took them from the countries they invaded. Copies are sufficient to have in museums around the world.
