The recent coronation of King Charles III has many people talking about the Commonwealth and the many member countries of which he is head of state. However, the focus of this video are four countries that have much in common, in addition to having King Charles as their head of state. These being Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. They have so much in common that there has been talk of them uniting into one country - CANZUK. But what would this look like and is it feasible?

Well, were these four countries to unite, they would have a population of 136.39 million, pipping Mexico for the spot as the world's 10th most populous country. Their combined GDP would be just under 7 trillion US dollars, making it the world's third largest, and CANZUK would be 18.2 million square kilometers, making it the largest country in the world.

However, the main drawback for this humungous country would be that its vast land areas would be oceans apart - the main reason many people call the idea unfeasible.

The distance issue just doesn’t matter, the British empire stayed together in a time when the fastest moved of transport to Australia was via sail/ steam powered ships. We have airliners and the internet now

With Trump's antics with NATO and threats to Canada, the EU is uniting against him and Russia. Canada can't join the EU, but CANZUK can unite Canada with the UK and perhaps Australia and New Zealand, considering how close China is by comparison.

Now imagine that newly combined political, economic, and military strength allied - not necessarily joining but in an alliance - with the EU. We're talking about something to potentially rival the US, Russia, and China, and in the current state of affairs that can only be a good thing.

Some people say the long distances make CANZUK difficult but during the heyday of empire nothing stopped the transport of goods and people between our lands. We have the internet now, and reaction engines in Oxfordshire, England developed Rocket Sabre engine which has the potential to reduce a 24hr long haul flight from London to Sydney to just 4hrs. Also, on the upside, if CANZUK had one foreign policy, uniting our militaries our navies would span the entire globe, just like it did in the empire when the Royal Navy was the biggest navy on earth. There is a shipbuilding renaissance in the U.K. at the moment and we are building more ships and nuclear powered submarines but the expansion has been slow.

It would be successful if it happens and it’s more likely than ever. It would stabilise the UK Union and offer fresh opportunities for travel and work, build our economies and will be better for the British because unlike the EU, with CANZUK we have a shared culture, heritage, language and system of law. What we don’t want is an adversarial relationship with either the US or EU, but our combined Union would offer us more punching power at the negotiating table.

The Northern Irish would be the biggest winners with access to both the Eurozone and the Anglosphere Union because of the Good Friday Agreement. There’s no great will from either side of the Irish border for unity and I think this weakens the case even more, but as with my thoughts on the EU and US relationship, I’d like the Irish to benefit from this too, as they would be strong mediators in our relationship with the EU.

The distance issue is understated, one of the reasons why NZ isnt apart of Australia is because the distance makes a union economically unfeasible

As an Aussie right now in 2025 with trump at the helm I’d partner up with Hyenas rather than America. In all seriousness though this could be a wonderful opportunity for a free trade agreement with countless benefits for the 4 countries. We all have a great relationship and respect for each other which has been long established. I can only see the benefits of having the USA out of the picture. Ask me again in 2028 Nov 6. That of course if trump doesn’t declare marshal law and stays in power like his bed partner Putin.

It's not an issue, They were in talks about this before covid brought the talks to a halt. One of the main reason's they were looking into this was to have a geographical advantage across the globe and that's the biggest reason other then that it would allow citizens from these four countries to travel to each and be granted access to move with citizenship to all four (There would be strict rules including birth and would Not be available to immigrants).

Also we would have minimum trade costs between the 4 and combining minerals & resources between the four with the biggest advantage being Australia and Canada that would make CANZUK the richest mineral power globally, inturn helping the economy of all four and the military presence and intelligence advantages. There are a lot more to CANZAC then what I've mentioned, but you get the idea.
But this is why they don't see distance as a negative.

The Anglosphere would fix the issue of distance slightly as you would have 2 countries in North America 🇺🇸 🇨🇦, 2 in Europe 🇬🇧🇮🇪 and 2 in Oceania 🇦🇺🇳🇿

I think oceans in-between can be our strength to build neval military service, shipping insurance service, trade shipping corporations, and banking finance on ship manufacturing along with other services like high-tech connectivity like marine broadband cable and energy supply pipe lines from Canada and Australian natural resources mines...

Canada is bilingual and would need a French component to keep Quebec onside and not feeling isolated. So any democratically minded French speaking countries should be included.
