🧺Prairie Revival🧺 to 🎀Kawaii🎀 Sailor Collar Dress Sewing Vlog 🪡

It's another sewing vlog! Today I've altered a vintage pattern from the prairie revival brand, Laura Ashley. I show you how to shorten a commercial pattern using its markings, as well as take you through the step by step directions. It can be a little difficult to follow along with a pattern and visualize the steps as a beginner, so I thought I would go through one will you - as well as show you how you can use a pattern to get different looks aside from what's shown on the envelope. You would be amazed how much moving a hemline, adding embellishments, or just playing around with different button options can really change the look and feel of a garment!

Hi! I'm The Stitchess! I'm an interdisciplinary artist and seamstress, with a degree in theatrical costume design. As much as I love fashion and clothing, I also think it's important to consider how and where clothing is made. I went fast fashion free at the start of 2019 to voice my concerns over the rapid consumerism gripping the garment industry. By no means am I perfect, but I think it's important to show that change is a process. I believe it is always important to strive to be better, even if perfection is unattainable.

Seeing the subtle differences shade difference between the two fabrics you used makes me want to see this dress with a ton of different colors. That patchwork homemade look is so CUTE.

And before I knew it I had watched the whole thing. I'm subscribed to other youtube creators who make sewing videos but they're usually at least 30 minutes long and I tend to skip along a lot. They also present it in a different way, often just showing sped up footage of them sewing without explaining the steps.
Your way of presenting made me love watching the entire thing.

When I see this dress it makes me think of the 1980s. The 80s had lots of great dresses. It was the decade for interesting dresses.

I'm so glad you included how to redo the side seam line!!! I would be the person to bust out my 36in. T-square, call it good, and then wonder what went wrong when I did the finishing lol. You've probably saved me hours of time by showing us how it should be done correctly.

Urgh this makes me miss a vintage Laura Ashley piece I had from the 80s. I lost it when I moved. So beautiful.

This is amazing. I still don't understand what I'm looking at when I watch you make ruffles, it's like watching a magician.

My own skin and hair tones rebel against soft pastels SO hard, but the abundance of them in your videos brings me a vicarious soothing sort of happiness lol~
