Only in NA they call it the “signia”, where the rest of the world calls it crown “estate “. So yeah, it’s a wagon alright, toyota just won’t admit it in NA.

You definitely missed quite a few things about this car. It has zero bespoke parts, quality proven electric motors, old school batteries, build quality of suspension, a few other things. I think its a perfect "Toyota" car built to last. They even put nice plastic caps on bolts for the suspension, they painted parts underneath that you wouldn't ever see just to protect them as an example. The levers you pull to drop the back seats down, you can pull them further back and quickly and they kick the seats down for you, so you don't have to reach.

There are some other details you miss about the engine design improvements, the lexus hood release mechanism, that pops the hood should you rear end someone to prevent it from being damaged. Its a great wagon.

I am very interested in this car, 42 married, no kids, the space in the back is perfect for bikes, hiking gear, trips to Costco, home depot for DIY projects. Without having to have a monster SUV or a truck. I think there is definitely a segment for this car. Been looking at cars/trucks/crossovers for about 1 year, but the cost of vehicles is just insane, so haven't bought anything. Still driving 2012 Camry, and 2004 Beetle, and doing Sound and vibration dampening materials, replacing old headliners, upgrading sound systems on the old cars to improve their driving experience, waiting for Car prices to fall. This car is way to expensive, but so is the entire market.

I have a Crown, rated at 42mpg but i get 47mpg average, 50mpg on days when I'm in a lot of traffic. It's basically a big Prius

A friendly reminder that Doug used to own a Kia Stinger for 1 year, in which he gave a very good review but the car FLOPPED in sales. So I wouldn't diss the Crown Signia just yet - older people want the Avalon style car without having to climb high up like with the crossovers.

I get that suvs sell more than cars. It's it really necessary for brands to have like 7 suvs in a lineup though?

Is Doug afraid of buying lights for his bunker so we can see the cars he tests?

Don’t let distract you from the fact that Doug was the 1st person to drive the new Camry

This is a solid upgrade for urban Subaru Outback people who are sick of the *terrible mileage* despite the aggravating CVT. Comparing a loaded Crown Signia Limited to loaded Outback Touring XT — the Toyota will MSRP at about $5K to $5.5K more. If you drive a lot, you can make up that difference in gas savings alone. Subaru quality ain't what it was in the 2000s either.

Being a big guy, I can't stand it when midsize crossovers and SUVs squeeze in that third row. It inevitably compromises front row space a little and middle row space A LOT. No thank you!

I drove a Crown rental car and absolutely loved it. The interior was Lexus-like: quiet, comfortable, and nice materials. Looks are questionable but I think they are great cars.

I’m a single guy in his 50’s. I have had the sports car and have a suv for bad weather and mtn biking. I love the AWD and hybrid setup with the wagon space for bike and skis.

This car is perfect for my dad. He doesn’t care about “sportiness” or performance, or styling all that much. He just wants a nice, comfortable, fairly luxurious car but doesn’t want to spend the extra money to get a Lexus. He drove V6 Camrys for 25 years and when he wanted something nicer, he bought a Venza. When the time comes, this’ll probably replace his Venza.

I like the way it looks, and honestly, my local dealership has both Lexus and Toyota, I think this has a cleaner look and nicer interior than most Lexus models around the same price point. I could see the Crown Signia taking away some Lexus sales.

The Lexus-like interior and grill is no accident. This is for people who want a more luxurious experience without worrying about giving certain individuals the impression you have money, because to non-car people you’re just driving a Toyota.

This is for the Avalon buyers. They don't want a RAV4 or a Highlander. Or a Lexus. Don't understand Doug's criticism of it.

Yawn is exactly what this was designed for. Reliable, practical, proven drive chain, and refinement. I LOVE wagons. Drive like a sedan but with extra cargo room. I hope sales flop so I can buy one at discount at the end of 2025.

i am one of six customers in the US that was waiting for a Toyota crossover with headlight washers

Doug, you’re underestimating the amount of grandparents that intentionally don’t want more seats so that they have a good excuse not to drive the grandkids around.

That little storage space under the trunk floor is for storing your retractable tonneau cover when you're not using it.

Final proof Doug has lost touch with the average car buyer who see this as reliable, fuel efficient practical vehicle.
