Being an Aircraft Mechanic, that is one of biggest fears you can have happen to you.
Even worse, losing a Tool.
I had a saying that I tell anyone that was new to crew, "When you lose a tool, we ALL lose a tool" because we all have to stop and look for it...
I checked my Toolbox at start of shift 10 times and at the end of the shift 10 times.
Everyone thought i was crazy for this until someone on the crew lost a tool.
We found after a 3-hour search and the next day, everyone was checking their toolboxes at least 10 time at the start of the shift and 10 times at the end of shift.
We NEVER LOST a tool ever again...

My colleague was just finishing the v12 engine on his stand . When he went to lunch I put a big end bearing on the stand ! He was sweating when he saw it ! I didn't let him suffer for long !
