If you saw last week’s video, you’ll know that I’m focused on prepping skin for a dry spell.
Nearly everyone this week had noticed some new challenges with their skin hydration upon entering autumn.
One of my winning strategies is to slip Niacinamide into a routine.

I like:

1. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

2. Olay Regenerist 3 Point Serum

3. Elta MD UV Clear AM and PM Therapy at night

I've been using the Niacinamide via The Ordinary. It is extremely affordable and doesn't have a lot of what I consider "filler" in terms of other products adding expensive branding, adding unnecessary fragrance, etc... I'm in my 40s and have had oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin since I was a teenager. Using a 10% Niacinamide + zinc regularly has been a game changer in terms of slaking the mid-day oiliness I would develop. My skin is dewier and, along with simplifying my skincare routine to just the essentials, I've managed to go from having regular cystic acne to the occasional period-time blemish. For years I was told this was solely a hormone issue. I have since discovered it was due to my skin's sensitivity to the products I was using to TREAT my acne. Niacinamide has helped with the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation as well. Love it. Many of my CeraVe brand lotions and face-washes have it too. I think that is a fantastic brand too. I hope the company that's purchased it doesn't adulterate the products. Leave well enough alone.

I have been using The Ordinary Niacinamide for a year now and LOVE it. The skin under my eyes had started to get tissue like, dry and wrinkly. I apply it a.m. along with moisturizer and sunscreen. Then at night also with moisturizer. After a year my eye area looks amazing! No wrinkles and seems more "plump" . Age (48)

Niacinamide is fabulous! I use a niacinamide serum and CeraVe PM that has niacinamide, ceramides and hyaluronic acid every night along with my 0.1% tretinoin and I never have irritation.

I started using niacinamide about 2 months ago. It irritated my skin to begin with but my skin seemed to accept it shortly after that. Now I am starting to see real results and I really enjoy using it in the pm before my retinol.

We're 28 days into spring in Australia and I started using The Ordinary's Niacinamide & Zinc serum for the first time today. Seeing it in your product suggestions has made me look forward to seeing what changes it makes to my skin. Thanks for this vid :)

My skin literally cannot live without niacinamide! I'm using The ordinary's and my skin is so much better (I have only skin prone to breakouts - especially around my jaw I get big painful pimples). I accidentally ran out of my niacinamide serum twice and both times my skin got worse so quickly - I get my usual painful big pimples and breakouts. First I thought I was a coincidence but I did not have any other problems like this except when I run out of the serum. The second time I ran out and the same thing happened I knew it has something to do with the niacinamide and how beneficial it is for my skin. Love love love and absolutely cannot live without!

Dr. Sam, I just have to say that you have such classic beauty. You remind me of the classic Hollywood stars with your poise and flawless beauty. It must be the Irish blood 😊 Congratulations on the cleanser, and I can’t wait for you to expand the line...if anybody can develop a good vitamin c serum, it’s you.

I realise that Niacinamide controls sebum and helps acne.. so I am curious if it can actually be drying for those of us who already have ageing dry skin. What do you think?

I've been using The Ordinary Niacinamide and it has done wonders for my skin! I'm eczema-prone (especially on my face now), so along with cleaning up my diet with more anti-inflammatory foods, I've also incorporated niacinamide on my problem areas and have seen DRASTIC improvement.

I've been using The Ordinary one for the last 2 years and found it amazing on my forehead where I've had textural acne problems (from squeezing). I thought I'd completely destroyed my forehead but it's smooth now :) It hasn't worked for other skin issues but this was an important one for me.

I’m on accutane, which restricts me from using actives, niacinamide is great while on accutane every second or so day. I use for hyperpigmentation

I've been using the Alpha H niacinamide serum for over a year and it's transformed my skin. No more hormonal acne or pesky zits. I also use Cerave skin renewing cream serum at night.

Non melanoma precancers run in my family. I recently incorporated Good Molecules 10% niacinamide into my routine and am pleased to see reduction in size on actinic kerstosis on my face. Now I find I need to apply it to the backs of my hands, as well. I really appreciate your science based videos.

I used the ordinary niacinamide and after a few days of using it it made my tiny bumps go away and smoothed out my face, but then two weeks later I started getting cystic acne and my face was so dry, I was really confused as to why I was getting cystic acne in places I never really do. It dried out my face and sometimes itchy, I had to stop using it. I know I’m not allergic to using niacinamide because I use Cerave pm moisturizer which has 4% niacinamide and it works perfectly fine

I started using the ordinary niacinamide and zinc almost a year ago and it's the only thing that has helped to calm down my acne. My skin is also less oily since starting to use it but not dry. It has been my best skincare purchase and I've tried so many different things to try to treat my acne. A potentially odd question about it though, do either niacinamide or zinc help with hair growth? My eyebrows have always been very thin and sparse but I noticed a few months after starting to use the niacinamide and zinc they had gotten a bit thicker.
