This is why I don’t follow skincare influencers who aren’t dermatologists. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and clinical experience.

You should do a video on Korean skincare next! Your opinions on it, whether it's underrated/overrated, comparisons to Western skincare, perhaps product recommendations, etc. Koreans just seem to care so much more about their appearance, for better or worse.

I hate it when influencers will bash a product because the active ingredients are towards the bottom of the ingredient list without taking into consideration that some ingredients can be dangerous at higher concentrations.

Personal notes:
1. Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) reduces inflammation (especially if you have acne).
2. Reduces oil production.
3. Use products that contain less than 5%. Too much is damaging.
4. Niacinamide supplements are shown to decrease the risks of developing certain types of skin cancer.
5. Products recommended: Super Pure by Glossier (it also has zinc). Alpha H (weird scents). Skin Ceuticals Metacell Renewing B3 (can be used as a light moisturizer, especially if you leave in a tropical place). Elta MD PM therapy, a moisturizer (but she feels like it sits on her skin only and it has a chalky feeling).

Fun fact: I came across your videos while watching random English videos to increase my English. I‘ve been doing this for about one year now. And now my English has become much better. But as a positive side-effect my skin has become much better, too! I‘m a 63 year old German living in Austria with Rosacea and I really, really appreciate the work you do! Thank you very much for teaching me both, English and proper skincare ❤

1) How didn't I have this woman in my life before?!! She explains things so well and is so fun!!
2) I feel niacinamide had a bigger buzz 3 years ago but still had a lot of buzz...

saying niacinamide got a new PR agent is SO true! I don't know what happened, but I'm happy cause it's a great ingredient

I recently discovered I hav an allergy to niacinimide since it’s literally in everything from my gentle cleanser to my sunscreen to my makeup. I’ve had to take it out completely. I wish companies wouldn’t go so crazy over these hype ingredients, because like you said too much of a good thing is no longer good. Thanks for the education!

Please talk about Rosacea 🙏🙏
Especially most of the patients complaining from finding a perfect sunblock or treating the hyperpigmentation when occured since their skin so sensitive and irritated
And we love u ❤️

The Inkey List Niacinamide was very very bad for me! I got more acne, and it didn't stop until I quit the Niacinamide. I was baffled because everyone was raving about it. Now I understand, you explained it so well. Thank you!

Hi Dr Shereene Idriss! I just wanted to say you're an excellent teacher and role-model. I'm in my final year of medical school and in the process of thinking about my future career. You definitely have sparked an interest in myself to look into dermatology! It's so much more interesting when being taught by a person such as yourself. I also watched your video about the difficulties in your career and overcoming them and it was very inspiring.

I discovered that niacinamide breaks me out. My skin is doing much better since I removed any product that contain niacinamide from my routine (cleansers, moisturizers etc.). And I’m pretty convinced after the intense acne breakouts I experienced for the last 6months, only thing that worked for me was keeping niacinamide away from my bathroom vanity. Everyone says it’s good for acne, I wonder why it hated my skin and attacked me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I used LaRosh Posay Niacinamide 10% - it didn’t suit me…so I guess less is better in this case. Glad you’re doing these videos otherwise bloggers would ruin our skin if we only followed their advice !

This taught me so much!! I actually use The Ordinary niacinamide and I have seen positive results on my skin. My skin texture is very smooth and I have definitely noticed I wake up with little to no oil anymore! Thank you for this amazing knowledge Dr. Idriss! Always a pleasure!

"less is more" the lesson that those ones with sensitive skin know pretty well. I like the niacinamide idea, but i personally don't buy a specific niacinamide one, i buy within moisturizer, la roche posey has many moisturizer with that. Excellent video doctor 🤗🤗🤗

The next "buzz" ingredient seems to be Azelaic acid, which has also been around for a while I think?
