You would multiply out the matrices in the left hand side in terms of a and b. Once you did that, you would then need to equate each element to the elements in the matrix (8 / 25). Once you have equated them, you will then need to rearrange to get the values of a and b.

Now why is matrix B 3xn instead of mx3, keeping the points symmetric with matrix A's gold, silver and bronze? It doesn't make sense to me, and it adds a mental obstacle I deon't think I need.
