3:08 The reason you got rust is because you left it to dry overnight. DO NOT leave a wet car to dry, simplegreen still has water in it. Use high compressed air or a portable leaf blower to dry it off, ESPECIALLY all the bearings and metal parts + internals. Also don't spray the internals with it either. Just put a dust cover on which will shield it from 99% of dust and then all you need is a brush + air to clean the insides!

Simple green foam is awesome. I bought a case off Amazon a few months ago and jave used it a few times and works great. It cleans tires like a champ. Also I use it all over the house to clean stuff.

😮 STOPP: DONT USE WATER ON YOUR RC FOR CLEANING, YOU WILL RUIN THE BEARINGS (also the once in the Motor) !
Two options: Use a stiff 2 inch painters brush to remove dirt and a thinner, smaller one for the details.
Or, do the same and help with an air compressor that can be bought for of about $100 everywhere.
Optional: After cleaning use some silicon spray over whole thing as a very thin protection layer. This helps for the next cleaning.
If you use water, you ruin the bearings. Solvent or WD40 does not help, these are degreaser and make your bearings run dry.

To avoid rusting, you can wipe it down by hand with some small towels. Afterwards to add more protection, I suggest lightly spraying any areas with metal or movement with some WD40 and wiping off the excess. Leaves the cars looking better for longer as well as keeps the rust and squeaks away.

This was absolutely amazing! I literally spent less than 5 mins total on cleaning my dry lake silt covered car, and save the scratches it was brand new.

I use Normal simple green and also works great. Soak it, let it sit for a minute, spray it with water then hit with a compressor and put near my heater

I understand your battle with salt water. You either have to rinse and then wd_40 while it dries and then oil bearings, screws and metal shafts, to keep them from falling to pieces and/or locking up! Just blowing off with air will not work for salt water environments. Takes extra steps to keep them running. 👍💪👏

How’s the smell? I use simple green liquid spray and dilute it a bit too but the odour gives me a headache.

I use an air compressor and a garden hose. Good as new. You might want to be careful with Simple green. It has a tendency to stain metals and the pitting look it leaves never goes away.

Will washing it with water break the insides?

With all due respect, it's not the way to clean an rc car! There is no easy way of cleaning unless you want to sacrifice the product in the long run. I literally own 20yr.+ Rcs that, aside from few scratches, looks almost like brand new! The actual process is as follows:
1. Remove tyres, body, batteries
2. Carefully blow with compressed air
3. Use small paint brush to dislodge stubborn dirt and blow some more
4. Use damp microfibre to clean parts
5. Inspect and repeat if necessary
6. Use car dashboard plastic shine for all plastic parts
7. Use fine mechanic oil on a q-tip to wipe all metal parts
8. Wipe body with damp microfibre
You're done, your car now looks like new and is inspected and well protected!🤗

Now spray the plastic parts with WD-40 to make it a lil more flexible so it won’t break as easy

Its worth mentioning, if you do this on a vehicle that doesnt have rubber sealed bearings, you are shortening the life of the bearing. This was and is best used with a vehicle that comes with stock rubber sealed, or that has been upgraded to rubber sealed.

I use the same method, but if you don't then pull all the bearing and dry them off, it's going to seize them. This just helps to have a cleaner car to work on IMHO.
