Gen 5 AFM/DOD Delete
Here's what's required to fully delete that pesky AFM/DOD system from your GM engine. A few companies are now offering kits with camshafts that require no tuning! Simply turn off AFM and go!
This applies to all GM engines utilizing active fuel management on 2014-2018 models.

Love it!!! I use the Diablo Sport tuner to disable the AFM. Eventually I'll do the AFM delete.

@ChrisVaughnTech ive done this twice now( different engines) both times net me low oil pressure on hot idle. first time i used oil pump alignment tools, new o ring low hot like 16psi. pulled apart and put in new pump and replaced the wiring to oil pump which was damaged. still low oil pressure hot. cam bearings looked great, crank and rod bearings felt good when i had pan off. as soon as you breath on the gas oil pressure goes up and normal driving it never drops below 35. i did some tuning, raised idle 100 rpm and changed where the VVT took over to cure wandering and its sits like 25 hot now. owner is good with it and been driving it for a few months. the one i finished yesterday same thing, new o rings, cam thrust plate, ls7 lifter, valley plugs, trays, oil pump wire. hot idle about 16psi, only mod to tune was turning the master DOD switch off. as soon as you breath on throttle pressure goes up like youd expect, ended up upping idle and changing vvt turn on point now sits25ish hot idle with 0w20, last one i went with 5w30 and very little noticable pressure increase. it seems just turning the dod off messes with the oil pump pressure control. im almost wondering if the stock VLOM is bleeding off pressure somehow. i do know the gauge is not showing accurite pressure tho, there is a table you can change the low pressure alert, its set at 40psi at 210 degrees at idle and if i change that up any i get the message "low oil pressure shut engine off" which means to me its getting ATLEAST 40 psi at idle at that temp but somehow the gauge isnt reading that. ive tried new oil sensors also, removed screen, never found an adapter to hook manual oil gauge up the, odd thread.

Very well done, appreciate all the details on parts to replace. I own a 2014 Corvette with 12, 000 miles and i want the engine to last a long time. I just saw a blown LT1 taken apart and it had a window added to the block opposite #1!!! I have ruined a LS1 with a lifted ring land on number 7 that had overheated and cracked the sleeve too. Too much boost and the Meth injector nozzle clogged. So I worry. The 2007 LS7 i had required the rockers arms replaced and both heads were ruined valve guides, but I had the oil checked and found titanium in the oil so i performed the repair before more damage. I really don't want to go through all that again. But I am afraid I can't do this work myself anymore, too damned old. So then I worry about a shop locally experienced in doing this work to the level you explained. Adding new parts that you may not think about. The oil pressure regulator wire for example. O Rings on the Pickups. Oh and I have the dry sump engine so that all different too. I am in Northern Virginia if you know anyone with this experience let me know. Dennis

Great video. Make sure to replace those fuel injector seals though, considered one time use and required resealed whenever pulled per factory

Quick question. Doing a dod delete right now. Do I need to delete the vvt as well? Or do all dod delete cams work with vvt?

I just boya 07 Silverado and i knew nothing about afm until after i bought it but come to find out the previous owner jad did the full delete kit by summit racing so i got very lucky thats one less problem i got to worry about running into the future

Where are you located and what do you charge for a DOD delete? My engine will already be out of the vehicle and i will be reinstalling the engine. It is a for a street rod build.

How many miles before problems occur with this engine ? If it’s disabled by tune, do u still have to do all this ?

I am doing a delete on a 6.2 LT one and I am putting a new time in chain and I keep freaking out because everybody says when you put on the oil pump it is very hard to do it be nice to see a video of how they do it or is it really that hard to do?

I purchased an 05' Envoy Denali Xl & wondered if this year vehicle has the dreaded dod system? Hopefully it doesn't do you know which years are effected? Also how bullet proof are these 5.3's?

You just said that we had to turn off the arm in the system? So we do have to reprogram the ECM?
