AMBIENT AUDIO ENJOYERS: In the video toolbar/controls, click the gear, click "Audio Track", and select "English (United States)". You should get the ambient-only audio with no commentary. To go back to commentary, choose "English (original)". Experimental idea... Let us know how it works! - Das

Thumbs up for adding commentary on these updates - I know Das wasn't always sure how to fill the air, but he pointed out many things I would not have noticed, and he was entertaining!

I've been watching since there was nothing but a couple of steel pipes sticking out of the ground which now support the OLM. Still amazing how far Star Base has come in such a short period of time. Star Hopper a big part of the catalyst for going forward! Congratulations to the Space X community of people. Well done!

Scheuerle Fahrzeugfabrik, now known as TII SCHEUERLE, developed the Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) in 1983. The SPMT is a heavy-transport technology that has become a global standard.

The SPMT's technical basis includes:
Hydraulically supported oscillating axle: Invented by Willy Scheuerle in 1956
Electronic multidirectional steering: Invented by Willy Scheuerle in 1972

The SPMT's modular design allows it to be combined into different transport units of any size. Each module can be configured with 3, 4, 5, or 6 axle lines, and can have its own drive and control system. The SPMT's load capacity depends on the version, but can reach up to 60 tons per axle line.

The SPMT is used to transport a variety of goods, including luxury yachts, industrial plants, mining vehicle components, offshore wind turbines, hotels, and cultural assets.

In 2022, Mammoet and Scheuerle developed and employed the world's first electric SPMT.

Hey Das, you were talking about SPMTs. I worked in the electric utility industry my entire career, and I saw SPMTs being used to move very large electrical transformers. It was amazing how they could get around tight turns going into substations. BTW, I love your commentary.
