LG V40 Review - Hidden Advanced Features!

If there’s one reason to buy the LG V40, LG’s latest flagship, it’s ALL about its 5 cameras, the most cameras on a smartphone to date until Samsung copies and launches the Galaxy S10 next year. With 3 dedicated rear cameras and 2 front cameras, the LG V40 can give you more camera angles from a single smartphone than any other smartphone on the market. In this review, I really wanted to focus on its 5 cameras, since the LG V40 is really about the cameras along with its hidden advanced features w/ its manual mode you probably will never use unless you watch this video. I enjoyed watching this. I've had my '40 for just about 2 years now, best phone I've ever had. I was saddened to learn that LG has discontinued producing phones. I'm in the process of buying batteries, and spare parts, so I can keep using my '40, and its predecessor, an LG G6, for the next several years. These two phones have everything I need. I love this phone. Believe it or not the battery life is a little better than my Note 9.

The bootloader issue is due to the carriers not allowing it. If I had to guess why, it's because of things like getting around the tether block when you haven't paid for the service. That's money that the carriers could be making off of users. T-mobile was the last carrier that let users unlock their bootloaders (I'm not sure if they still do). Hence why the unlocked international version is the only one that officially supports bootloader unlocking.

One more thing. Most people who watch max are techies or tech interested. Recommend him to people that don't know anything about tech. He'll get views, subscribers, etc., while you're friends will learn something new and we can break this Samsung/iPhone monotony.

Great job! You speak my language on manual audio level adjustment on the camera part of the phone. As far as I'm concerned, your the first to talk camera phone audio! I stumbled upon this phone yesterday in my local Verizon store and the sales staff were so freaked out and totally sold on the upcoming s20 phones claiming this phone not anywhere near as good as the s20.
I gave Samsung headquarters a lecture from hell and canceled my order for the s20 and ordered the v40.
And out of THOUSANDS of YouTube videos, that was mentioned was the broken record of the 108 mega pixels and 100x space zoom. NOTHING anywhere about audio.
Great pictures need great audio as BOSE says!

I loved the idea of the "second display" on the v10. Its like the apps in recent from android pie without having to go to recents.

Thanks for the detailed review, Max. "Auto-Manual mode" is a good idea.
Question for you - does putting a case on the phone affect the boombox feature in any way? I would assume it would lessen it to a degree.

Hello. I am making a short film with my LG V30 and my Galaxy S20 and am using manual video mode for better control. I noticed on the audio control, I see GAIN, LCF AND LMT. What setting do you recommend? I notice by default, GAIN is about -7 dB and LCF is OFF and LMT is on 0dB. Is the factory setting good for short film dialogue audio recording? Really enjoy your channel. Thank you very much.

Hey Max, Great review on advanced features and manual settings. What about call quality, I had a V20 but the call quality was nowhere near as good as my older G4....very tinny call quality in comparison, is the V40 a match for a G4 for making regular calls, important in my job as I am speaking to clients, thanks
