The best thing to do with a cow hitch is attach a lanyard, keychain, etc to a belt loop or other part of your person. It's quick and easy, just makes sense for EDC purposes.

Wow, very nice. Lots of hitch knots, thanks for the overview of options. Two points - The Buntline is tied with the Clove, as you describe, but here you tie a fig-8. Second, the Blake's working end must pass between the bridge & standing part then fed up thru the wraps on the back side. You tie the Buntline & Blake's correctly in your individual feature videos for these knots. You may wish to make an edit comment along with links to your feature videos in the comment area. Buntline hitch is one of my favourites and totally underrated. More secure than two half hitches and possible to tie as slipped version for easy release.

the trucker hitch can be improved by passing the end of the line through the loop twice for self locking, saving the pinching and 2 half hitches

Might I suggest taking a look at some of Brion Toss's[1] works... his books 'Knots' and the 'Complete Riggers Apprentice' would be a good start. Don't worry about their nautical theme; everything covered is good down to earth 'real world' practical.

Trucker hitch - if you make a full turn around the loop with the running end, then the second hand is not needed, everything can be tied with one hand))
