Thank you so much for this video! I was just on the verge of buying Oura Ring. Then I started researching things. I do not buy subscription services, EVER. I do not appreciate this type of service models that Oura practice - out of principle, I will never ever buy a product from someone who offers a service like this.

On top of all this, they don't offer a windows app (or linux app), but they only have a mobile app for using their service. I don't use a smart phone, and any service which demands a smart phone for their use, I absolutely refuse to use.

I cannot stand companies who offer this kinds of services.

At the beginning you could own it outright and not have to pay a monthly subscription. Because I was an early adopter then upgraded to the gen 3 I get lifetime membership for nothing. Having said that I think it’s appalling what they have done as my other half has my old ring and her membership has expired and she doesn’t even get what you’ve described in this vid, basically she gets nothing so it ends up being a very expensive piece of tech with no meaning. Perhaps if they did a subscription model of JUST paying monthly for a minimum term and no initial outlay they may attract more customers. They have massively dropped the ball on their business model and hope they rethink their approach very very soon

Samsung Galaxy ring's Samsung Health is TOTALLY free. Cost for the ring is the same as oura. I bought Samsung's ring. It's also more durable. No scratches or discoloration of the gold titanium. It is better with abuse. I've had both for more than a year. (The oura ring sitting on a shelf, with a couple scratches & slight discoloration near the scratches.)

Thanks for this! I needed to see this to help me make up my mind about the Oura ring. Definitely NOT going to buy it! After you spend $300! And now you have to fork over $83.88 annually, this is a trap! 😡

Samsung and Apple are working on their own smart ring versions. I'm sure they won't charge a subscription. Might give one of them a go when they come out.

I agree that it's ridiculous AND they're still collecting the data. They just aren't letting you see your own data. I changed rings and it gave me this screen for a week. When I switched back to my old ring (gen2) all the data was there.
