Thanks for doing this video. One of the hardest things, when teaching new players, is that the chart topping DPS records were not just because of 1 person, and their build. So many content creators make videos, bragging about how much DPS their build does, but not telling their viewers that it wasn't possible without an organized team. Over the years (I have had to take breaks from the game due to health issues), I have taught a lot of players how to do different types of builds. But the worst thing to do is try to explain to someone that spent hundreds of real life money on the game, that even though they copied the build they saw, they are not getting those numbers without a proper team.

Your honesty, and willingness to clearly explain how each role works to make those numbers happen, is going to help a LOT in teaching fellow players. I will be sharing the link to your video a lot. Because of health issues, I have had to take breaks from the game for years at a time. And since I am disabled, and have no income, I can't afford to buy a lot of the stuff needed to keep up with min/max builds. In the past, I was able to just by spending 48+ hours in the game grinding from my medical bed. But when my health started getting worse, it became harder to keep up with the min/max community. This also made it harder to do what you did here, and share different builds that explain how each role works. You video will be a big teaching tool.

A few years ago, I started focusing on doing true budget builds, so that new players would have a platform to begin working towards their full, endgame builds. After being gone for a few years, I have had to take time to relearn some of the changes in the game, while I was gone. But I always loved teaching others. And this game has allowed me to do that over the years. But there is an area where I have lately been falling a bit behind in. I was wondering if you would, please, be able to help.

If you have the time, and are willing to, would you please do a video that shows how to do true budget builds for tanking, and support? True budget builds are ones that don't use event ships, weapons, or gear, because those are only reasonably available if you were able to do the event(s). Also, they don't use C-Store, Lobi, or Lockbox ships and consoles.

Crafting, rep, fleet, and episode rewards are the only things used in a true budget build. If you could make a video on these things, it would really help a lot of new players, that don't spend real life money on the game, to start with a decent, affordable, platform to start with. I have horrible internet where I live, so it is really hard for me to work on things like this. I will even be willing to help if you would like.

Sincerely,
Razar.

I agree with "Phil's" comment, 'the (time) investment is not not worth it.' I'm at best at the 50K DPS on just one of my toons. I don't have all the consoles that was mentioned and the EC prices on the exchange is just ridiculous.

First part of this video is why I pay zero attention to the ISE parts of Build Videos, as that is what the build does in a dedicated team. I wish they would do like "Wanted" solo on elite of something, as it is a better representation of their build. Thanks for making this btw.

I'm chilling out with a lot of those top player in our discord. And every time I hear them talk about their optimisation I think I could be on that top player list too... but then I think fuck it... the (time) investment is not worth it :D

I try to not be too elitist, but one did slip through regarding "Are Torps OP". Gonna follow that up with another video in the near future to dive into that topic a bit more.

The average player only needs to be concerned with getting to or above 50k DPS, and the requiring factor on that is the way they built the episodic missions.

I shoot for 100k on all my toons. That's the only chasing I do.

I get it. Tell people engineers suck to lead them off the trail and avoid the competition. We all know they are actually mega OP.

thats why i think the max DPS from only one player is kinda nonsense. Timeruns from the whole TFO would make much more sense and could expand the mission schedule from only ISE and HSE (idk how ppl can run these million times with out getting heavy depressions) to many More.

DPS measuring in sto is flawed and inconsistent. A 300 second solo fight against a trio of tact cubes would yield a consistent sustained DPS measurement, instead of the clicky fest it currently is.

This is a really interesting video, came up in my recommendations, I’ve been trying to get my DPS higher for sometime now. Through watching some really good build videos and with a little help from friends online my Prometheus phaser build hits somewhere between 70K and 80K DPS. I still consider my build incomplete.

One thing you mentioned in this video that I’d like some clarification on, you mentioned timing on clickies? Is there a preferred order that you activate abilities in? Do you activate all abilities at once or only certain abilities at a time?

Great vid, alot of valuable info here. I think with most things, to be elite at something, it takes alot of time, dedication, effort and failure to really set the table to be the best/ top 1% in/at something.

The term "excessive" comes to mind. Honestly, as a veteran of STO since day one, I do not understand the DPS record-breaking meta. So much time, effort, and in many cases ridiculous amounts of money is put into it that it can't be worth it. You can complete elite difficulty content with free ships and free builds, but people continue to find the best possible build despite the game not increasing in difficulty as the builds get better.

I'm happy with 100k DPS purrsonally. :)

A great video - helped me understand reasons why some of my attempts at increasing my DPS have not led to any gains. Thanks

This is random but I wanted to know if it was possible to make a martial arts build in STO after seeing the 3 hit combo. I made a Vulcan female that hit 1200 damage with one Lunge I. I don't remember if that was a crit or flank or both there was a lot of people shooting at one of the field bosses at once so It wasn't in a clean environment.

Are there training dummies or other npcs you can test on on ground levels? I have been testing on the worms on Nimbus but it's annoying to setup.

Hmm, get a third of the damage of a 2 million DPS build? I'll take that 600k+ DPS build please.

The magic words here team composition and team practice, i wish people would understand that it's those things that make the records and not just the builds they fly, so they don't get frustrated copying the high end builds you or others use for lots of money and hope to get the same results, and when that doesn't happen even hate on the likes of you!
Great content!

Newb Question. Would cannon scatter volley provide more depuffs that fire at will? Video suggestion budget tank and support builds(for the non-elitist that want to get into this with a few friends).
