As someone born, raised and still living in Qatar. The alcohol ban was clear for the past 10 years since Qatar won the host.
Go back to the news and check the facts.
Alcohol ban was something we agreed upon in Qatar since 2010.
It's not our problem that they just came to know about it. There was no way we were going to allow public consumption of alcohol. Still u can drink alcohol in Qatar but not in stadiums.
We have one of the lowest crime rates in the world and alcohol restriction is one one the reasons for that. Maybe people in the west can learn something from us and make their countries safer.
