Ribz Pack Fits It All!

After seeing the "Ribz Front Pack Review" on CrOcket20's channel back in July 2011, I became interested in the pack. The price was more than I could afford then though. Then CrOcket did his Ribz Front Pack contest with a chance to win one of 4 Ribz packs by showing how you would use one. I sent in a video response wondering if the Ribz Pack would hold enough items for an overnight trip. And questioned how it might work for Ultralight Backpacking. Well *I* did not win...But I know someone that did, my good friend Intensangler. Ribz also offered a discount during this time so I figured now was my chance to be a Ribz owner too.

So here is my video that completes my original question:
Can the Ribz hold it all!

Right on Dave! It's kinda funny... I have the slightly larger version, and I'm astounded that you were able to pack all of that gear in there! You're definitely right, an overnighter would absolutely be possible with this thing! Thanks for showing the way my Brother!
Btw, really looking forward to seeing you and ol' Buster out on the trail... hope you guys have a blast! Also, hope your Thanksgiving was a good one, and you saved a couple of those famous "M. Pumpkin Muffins" for me! ;-)

Very useful bag! During the summer time I have pushed an overnight with 3-5C nightfall using a 15L pack. Always remember to be safe my friend!

Great stuff there Dave and I do like that pack. If you were just taking it somehow, an emergency mylar bivy sack might be a good addition to everything else and-or some kind of small sitting pad. Can't wait to see you out on the trail with it and your smaller pack. I'd sure like to see a video of your reflections on your one Sierra trip with your older gear and comparing it to more refined set ups you're now using. See ya on the trail buddy, maybe :o)

Great pack! I was thinking of looking into a large hip pack with shoulder a shoulder harness! Might have to check this out instead. Thanks for the info. Tell Buster hi from SC!

@rainbowhiker I've been dreaming of the day I can get back out to the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness. I'm sure it's snowed in now. I'm going to call the rangers and find out when the road opens and make that trip. Would like to do it before the mosquitoes and during spring runoff in all the creeks. "Lite" will be the key word during packing to. Probably a 2 man tent with Buster also. The're coming out with a new breathable Bivy I hear. Seen some nice ones of those too to consider. You got me thinking...

@medicjimr Jim, That Ribz pack holds a heck of a lot of goodies! I was surprised at how much I could get in there. And with out really any planing on weight or size of items. Just things I had around the gear room. Thanks for commenting. I need some dirt time too :-) Will be catching up on your videos this weekend too I hope.

@dragonflyhiker Thanks for commenting on the Ribz pack video. They are a very versatile pack for sure. Used it on a mild day hike this Saturday and needed nothing else. Will surely benefit from it next time I pack into a spot for an overnighter.

@steintanz Tim, Good to hear from you. I have about 9 videos of yours to catch up on! :-0 Thanks for your comment. How's the weather out there by you? Sunny california is still being nice to us with temperatures in the mid 60s Fahrenheit. Hope all is well with you these days. Will catch up on videos this weekend. Thanks for the comment!

Would you say that green is closer to olive or foliage? I want to match my hydo-pak.

now are all these ribs packs about the same? except for waist size? I'm gonna look at amazon again, most there were priced around 60 bucks i think but some went way higher. like 180 bucks hmmm

Have you done this to the Blue Diamond can? That works? If so this is a great tip. I did not think it would cut nicely. I was considering smashing the edge down in a small area but if this will cut with a can opener I'm gonna do that. I have about 4 of these cans now :-)
Thanks
Dave

@dmacken11 :o) We've been having a very mild and sunny autumn as well here - so until later!

@dmacken11 Hmm, that's darker than I expected. Would be hard to match up, (for those of us picky guys that like gear to match). Guess I better just go with black. I got one of the first RIBZ a couple years ago in black, but it wasn't well made. The back strap was velcro adjustable, and kept getting wadded up to itself. One frustrated yank ripped the whole thing out. Also the hems were not sealed so every time I opened the RIBZ there was always wads of nylon hair caught in the zippers.
