How’s the video quality in low light, also is the 4K video cropping in, and not using the whole sensor which could reduce the focal lengths which has been the issue with the 5D Mark IV? Im a long time Canon user for photography and also use a GH5 strictly for video due to Canon’s lack of integrating professional video capabilities in its DSLR lineup. I read that the EOS R could possibly be a great hybrid camera for both photographers & cinematographers.

@digiDIRECT: You didn't mention about some of the things below that are ignored by most "reviewer":

1. Focus Guide : Better than focus peaking (imagine all the old cheap FD lenses coming to life with adapter)!
2. Ability to take crop lenses like Sigma 18-35 f1.8 during 4K or the ability to take 10-18mm for the UWA shots in 4k, unlike other competitors which can't take crop lens.
3. Ability to take true to life 1/50 shutter (AKA 24p) video in any situation with any lenses because of the drop-in [ND] filter adapter.

Here's a good question, All those auto focus points, is that the reasoning the the focus is so fast and accurate in terrible lighting conditions. Im not switching to this from my sony but I think Sony needs to take a look at this and incorporate it into its next few cameras. The screen, the small LCD screen up top, the shutter covering up the sensor. All Great things they did to this camera. Oh and the size! Well done cannon.

I see Canon use this trick (4K crop) to sell EF-S lenses for people who record 4K and EF or RF for people who shoot photos. So with one adapter, they can keep selling all kind of lens mounts. One arrow kills lots of points

So if I was to get only 1 lens for this camera, what would you recommend? An all around lens. I was thinking the 50mm from this collection, but it’s so freakin expensive! I don’t know if it’s worth that $2200 price tag! is there another 50mm you would recommend? Or the 35mm?

Adapters are the selling point of EOS R, over 100 EF and EF-S lenses released so far can be used seamlessly.

You can lay your hands on the new EOS R, what about Australian prices? It is still bulkier and has fewer features than the Sony A7III and probably more expensive as well. Well, where to now Canon?

The Sony A7iii doesn’t have a 45mp sensor, it has a 24.2mp sensor. So the Canon EOS R is actually higher resolution.

Nice review, I'm very tempted :-) Here my question: if you have an EF lens with Image Stabilization mounted on this camera and IS is switched on: does IS pause when the shutter button is not pressed (as it should be normal behaviour when not in video mode) or is it always on and whirring, even when just reviewing the pictures? I unfortunately have the 100mm Macro L with a quite noisy IS.

Can you use manual focus adapted lenses with the new shutter which closes with the removal of a lens? Also is the 1080p video decent with pixel averaging like the 5dMk4 - much better than line skipping like 6Dmk2?
