Might you need to shift leaving and entering the pits? What about caution Laps?

Number one problem with NASCAR is NASCAR

shifting is just another piece of the puzzle that gives good drivers and advantage. Take away shifting, make the field even more equal and boring.

A former GM high performance engineer has built an almost stock Chevy engine with 500 HP . He was limited on HP because of the heads . The engine runs on hydrogen which is what NASCAR should be looking at to keep racing going with real engines not electric motors. But, they won't . It took them decades just to switch to fuel injection

I don’t understand why shifting is bad. Like Jr. says it, and other people say it, but never actually say why it’s detrimental. I would think you’d want shifting so you are getting more out of the car when you need it while it’s in a shorter powerband. You can also use shifting to help rotate the car… so ya, can anyone explain his point for me please. I’m genuinely trying to learn why.

So true.shifiting takes the good racing out.i don't understand.why can't they gear it so u don't have to shift.we don't need the 5 speed.but the oem think they have there way.ive always been against the 5 speed.

He's right. Talladega is 4th gear and right foot on the pedal crushed to the floor.

Horsepower bring it back. Give them 900 hp and watch what happens.

Seems like everyone agrees more power and shifting make it harder to drive not easier

damn junior the drivers already get a recess every 50 laps, now you want them to not have to shift. that is part of racing dude

Are there really that many of you who don’t understand that shifting happens because of ridiculously low horsepower and that it’s bad because downshifting enables the engine to brake the car much more than just the brake system can? Not to mention that it’s embarrassing to run cars so underpowered that you have to shift at a track like Darlington. If you don’t understand these basic racecar 101 facts, why are you watching racing at all?

And people wonder why my generation can’t have trucks cars and simi with manual transmissions. It’s an absolute nightmare to drive these semi‘s in the Rockies with automatic transmissions but that’s the industry standard now because it’s all this generation knows it’s automatic.

So someone found a way to create a faster lap time with current rules and you don't like it? That sounds like someone who doesn't like change.

To wide of tires., and to big of brakes, period. And Not enough HP

Shifting is a skill. Don't be lazy.

From experience, I firmly believe this. The only time I had a real problem with a race start with transmission was trying to get a jump by shifting. Big mistake!

In my opinion just go back to when racing was Real Racing back in 1975! BUT Keep the safety equipment!🏁❤
