Volkswagen VR6 Engine Valve Cover Gasket & PCV System Replacement (R32, Jetta, Audi Q7, & more)

Показать описание
►The Volkswagen VR6 engine was shared across many models in the VW family but is best known in the VW GTI R32. This unique engine has some quirks that make maintaining them a little bit more difficult. One such maintenance item is the valve cover gasket, which tends to leak, leading to a lengthy repair.

Cory is back to walk you through step by step in removing the valve cover and replacing the valve cover gasket along with a few other items while the engine is apart. Although this job can look intimidating, it is relatively simple and can be completed by any at-home mechanic.

on my 2013 vr6 passat, none of this is necessary.all you gotta do it’s take the manifold off, all the backing of the manifold. pop the coils, and then you are free to remove the valve cover.

Another high quality video in terms of content and production!
May I suggest giving a idea of how much time each DIY job takes should a subscriber decide to have an independent shop do the work.

I swear that it looks exactly the same as my touareg 3.2 - is the intake manifold the same ? Looks exactly the same ? I broke one of my coolant hose connectors when re installing - top video !!

Hi Cory, excellent how-to video. European car engines don't use PCV but CBV/PRV - Crankcase Breather Valve/Pressure Regulating Valve aka CCV - Crankcase Valve. Both function identically, but they have different designs and shapes. A PCV has cylindrical steel or aluminum inside with a spring-loaded piston valve that regulates engine crankcase pressure and housed in a metal body. On the other hand, CBV/PRV is a complex design that uses a cylinder or box shape with a spring-loaded rubber/silicone diaphragm to regulate the pressure. Some of them are integrated into the valve cover.

How similar is this to do on a 12V 2.8 VR6 for the PCV replacement portion?

Thanks for posting. Since going this far, do you recommend to go further and change head gasket as well?

So you can reuse the bolts for the intake manifold?

The longest part about this job is watching this video at least 50 times to make sure I don't mess anything up

Different on Porsche Cayennes. Their high pressure fuel system has to be partially removed. The high pressure fuel pump and also one of the fuel rails.
