REPLACING THE VALVE COVER GASKET ON A 2001 MK4 VR6

So replacing the valve cover gasket on the vr6 isn't a easy job.
The reason its hard is because the intake manifold goes from the back of the engine to over the valve cover. its only held by 4 hex bolts but there not easy to get to with the amount of space you are given to accomplish this job. If the job is to much for you take it to a professional, it might cost you some bucks (like 400) but having a pro do it might benefit you in the long run. like breaking things you didn't want to break. but having a older car things are fragile and are just on the brink of breaking. i hope this helps you guys.

I couldn't find any other video with similar engine to mine (VR6 in Seat 2002). Without this video I wouldn't be replacing my valve cover gasket at all, thank you very much, this video is really helpful.

Great job. Just to give you heads up on the intake bolts access, you might want to put the front bumper in the service position. I though it would be a pain, but makes things a lot easier for servicing the engine. All you have to do is remove the bumper cover, put in the service position rods, remove the bumper bolts and slide the whole from end forward. After you do it the first time it will only take you 15 minutes to do it the next time. Another thing you might want to look at is hose clamp pliers. I have several. Get one that has a long cable and another with straight hose clamp pliers. The hose clamps are a bitch to pull off without them and less likely to break things. I was curious on how the gasket goes on the motor. Valve cover. Thanks for the video.

Hey man, for next time or for anyone reading, you can access those six bolts a TON easier if you remove the two stabilizer bolts (underneath, toward firewall/rear of engine), grab a block of wood (or in my case a maul hammer) and lift the front of the engine up to swing those bolts up toward you. It’ll only rock a couple inches and they’re still kind of a pain but those couple inches make a big difference.

Way easier if you remove the bumper and put the front clip in service position...

KUDOS vdubfam well believe or not is easy to get the bumper remove and the whole front of the car that will give easy access to those bolts it takes me 20 minutes to do it or less than that without a drill I guess I work in my car which is the same ones in a while but you know is worth it when you got the job done without paying somebody else..
