My aunt and uncle grew up in the "depression era". They had lived like paupers their whole life. Buying everything used. Saved money their whole life and never got to enjoy it. My aunt died from cancer. My uncle then old and a widower died a millionaire never having had enjoyed world travel, children of their own or any the benefits of being "financially independent". Life is really about balance and learning that we have a "expiration date". Live life well but don't live like my aunt and uncle, life is too short.

I discovered FIRE about two years ago, realized I was already following it without having known about the movement, and hit my FI number a year ago when I was 38. But I had just started a new job that I really liked and I didn’t want to retire yet, so I decided to stick with that job for a couple years and retire at 40. That’s the freedom of FI; now I’m working because I want to not because I have to. If I stop liking my job, I can just leave. When I tell people I plan to retire at 40, they chuckle and ask how I plan to do that, so I tell them about FIRE. If they seem interested, maybe I send them a couple articles, and direct them to this YouTube channel. If they aren’t interested, I just leave it alone.

People always equate the FIRE movement to "Rice and Beans" living. But if you live with intention, you don't have to feel like you're depriving yourself! All about priorities!

I'm thankful for the finance101 class and my professor, loved it so much that I even kept the textbook a couple of years after I graduated. I still remember the days I realized that my money could be working for me instead of me working for my money. Retired 3 months before I hit 40. I used to smash the alarm clock in the morning and wake up hating having to go to work, now I wake up way earlier than in the old days, no alarm and full of energy, because Freedom is calling and it's so irresistible.

Always entertaining when someone that has a 1k dollar cell phone says "how do you manage to save so much of your income ", as I hold my Samsung J7. Lol

Idk if “FIRE” should be the goal but certainly “FI” should be if anything!

Most inspirational couple on YT. I have quit my job last year and do not regret it. I am much happier. Took many trips, visited my parents in Europe 3 times (2 months each time) traveled into remote beauty in US. I love my life. My decision was well calculated and based on FIRE rules.

We’re late bloomers to the FIRE movement. (51 & 52) But we’re well on our way!

I'm happy to know that I can become an "investor" like my classmates 's dad from primary school. I remember thinking this was only possible for rich old men.

The focus on intention and priorities versus deprivation is SO important. Every month on the FIRE subreddits, somebody comments about how they've been saving 90% of their income and doing nothing fun for several years, and they're "burnt out." You're not supposed to make yourself miserable, friends!

I also think it's important to remember that FIRE doesn't mean you can't work, but you retire from the mindset of having to work. I remember a guy talking about how he reached FI, quit his job and then had the freedom to work on his own business ideas and he became a successfull entrepreneur with several companies bc he finally could work for himself and do what he thought was fun.

Of course, FIRE is real! You need to understand that it's something that won't happen overnight. You'll have to make a lot of sacrifices and stay consistent. Great video guys!

My biggest concern/struggle right now is finding a job or business that I enjoy doing and will be a sustainable and enjoyable path to FIRE. Does anybody feel this way too?

I love this video! My wife and I just decided to go down to 1 income, and while that’s not FIRE, we couldn’t have done this without the FIRE movement! Thanks for all you do

The idea of not working just to be extremely frugal is silly! FIRErs are working for a better and less stressful life through intentional choices.
