At least four people were killed in a mass shooting Monday in Half Moon Bay involving two crime scenes, and the suspect was in custody after surrendering to deputies.

I think it’s because older people are often disrespected, and some of them aren’t going to take it anymore. Where I work I’m openly ridiculed about my age and management ignores it, but if I were to say anything about my co-workers’ race, I would be fired. And it’s a lot harder getting a job when you’re over 50, so you have to stay and be humiliated just to support yourself. I wouldn’t kill anyone, because I value my freedom too much, but I can understand some people who are being ridiculed and laughed at might snap one day and decide to take their tormentors out.

My parents were at a Chinese New Year celebration in northern California yesterday. Very heavy police presence. However, it was not a hate crime. Both Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay shootings targeted minority groups, but the shooters were their own, clearly motivated by personal grudges of some kind.

Crazy that no where is safe now. Been to half moon bay several times and it’s always so beautiful and quiet town. So sad 😞
