Thanks Jesse for the listen. This is the title song of their just released album which is why I asked for this song of theirs.
Yes, Larkin Poe are 2 of the 3 Lovell sisters. They are descendants of the American writer Edgar Allen Poe. They started as classical string players, switched to blue grass and when the 3rd sister decided to leave touring they redefined themselves as blues rock. They come from the American state of Georgia but are now based in Nashville.
Unfortunately they do not do lyrics translations on their videos which doesn't make sense because they tour and play in the same European venues as Avi Kaplan does. They do write their own music, primarily by Rebecca the lead singer.
And yes there is an informal Avi connection 😁. Avi's drummer, Noah Denney, was Rebecca's husband, Tyler Bryant's bass player for 8 years.
They were just recently backing up Willie Nelson on his Farm Aid tour.
Glad you got a chance to hear them. They consider the singing as something they have to do to accompany their playing. A very different way to approach performance.
A more creative and very haunting song they do that you might listen to some time is "Mad as a Hatter"
