Momentum investment just isn't for me. When you consider the tax implications and opportunity costs of the time spent researching your investments, the marginal gains simply don't seem worth it. Or maybe I'm just lazy and prefer a more hands off approach 🙂

I remember reading the Investor’s Business Daily back in the 1990s and buying into the concept. Then 1999 happened. Ooooppppsssiiieeee. Blop, blop, blop. Momentum investing isn’t investing. It’s trading and it is not sustainable. Investing on fundamentals always works. Name one momentum trader as successful as Warren Buffett. It’s a trick question. There are none.

Momentum investment should be paired with reasonable knowledge about the investment. It seems odd to be to go only off of a price model direction without knowing what underlies the context of that price change.
