A great review of a book that I have read in the past. Time to revisit it again. 🙏 Richard for the prompt. It’s also a great audiobook for the walkers out there. 🚶

I went on loads of courses in my previous career and loads of people kept mentioning it. I eventually bought and read it. It makes so much sense and I still refer back to it when situations happen. It just sits there in my subconscious mind!

I’m half way through reading this book Richard on your recommendation. It’s a fantastic read and I’m already noticing my ‘chimp’ in action but now am able to do something about it. Excellent summary on of the book and the techniques that work for you. Please keep up the wellbeing Thursday. Great channel. Thanks

This is an amazing book, I’m not a great reader, however I listen to audio books, as I find I take the information in better, and this book is amazing, absolutely fascinating and has made me realise and understand myself much better, I really enjoy watching and listening to your self care and mindset vlogs, much appreciated, thanks Richard

Great book review Richard. I’ve been a major fan of Prof Steve Peter’s for a few years now. His books and workshops have massively helped me understand how I and others tick 👍

Thank you for this book review and recommendation. I bought it on Kindle this morning and I am loving it! I think it will be really helpful in understanding myself. Plus I can already think of several others that would benefit and enjoy it.

I don’t have the time at the moment to get and read the book, however your breakdown of this theory has been very helpful to my mental health. I salute you sir 👌

Great video Richard. It always amazes me how primitive our brains are compared to how advanced we are as a society and technologically!

Thanks for another fantastic and informative video Richard. What I took from this was to build on my daily morning and evening journaling by adding in a weekly review and reflection and what I can take into the coming days and weeks.

Thanks for recording this Richard its an excellent summary and really helpful. I am a fan of his work and he has written other books which are equally interesting and also offer very practical steps to improve mental wellbeing. As an early retiree and a VW camper owner, my wife and I love your channel.

Richard his new book is also excellent 'A Path through the Jungle' and his interview on the Pod Cast Diary of a CEO is also really brilliant watching. I am a big fan and listen to both books often when I am walking for fitness. Great Vlog

Very nice video on the topic! Evolutionary psychology is interesting indeed! If you haven't read it, I can also recommend "The Compassionate Mind" by another British psychologist. Also based on the understanding of how our mind has developed during evolution but in the context of how we can use that to better understand and be compassionate both towards our own faults and sufferings, as well as others. Probably one of the most influential books I have read so far.

Hi Richard, I first heard about this years ago whilst driving to work. It was on the Chris Evans radio show. I'm also a fan of Guy Martin, who in his books, refers to the chimp as "Steve". Giving it a name I suppose makes it more personal. But I always refer to Steve the chimp when I come across what I think is irrational behaviour, which could include saying things you don't actually mean (fortunately, not me), it's just an impulsive reaction to something you feel you can't control.

I think my adhd is deliberately feeding my chimp cos my chimp is never calm - my chimp is definitely leader of the pack 😂
