Hello brother. I just stumbled on your video and I'd like to give some constructive criticism if you will have it. I think you went over each application too quickly and did not go into enough detail to let people know which app suits their needs the best. For example, when talking about Bear Note, you did not mention that it is only available on Apple platforms. And when talking about Obsidian and some other apps, you mentioned PKM and assumed that your audience already knows what PKM is. As someone who has researched a lot of these apps and has already chosen one for my personal use, I want to help other people research and choose the best one for them. I wanted to give them a link to a useful YouTube video that is up to date in 2024 which will just show them the best note taking apps. However, after watching your video I find that I cannot share it with the people that I am guiding because it does not provide enough information. I know how much time and effort goes into researching, shooting and editing a video and I am not trying to demean your work. I just hope you can see clearly what I'm saying.

I was quite surprised that Craft didn't make your list. I would have ranked it in the top 5.

Currently use Apple Notes. I love what EverNote is doing but lack of security holds me back from them. With Apple Notes I turn on Advanced Data Protection and everything is end to end encrypted. If Evernote would step up their security I would look at them again because the app itself is amazing now.

Have tried 5 of them on this list:

Started with Notion, then it got too chunky and I spent way too much time trying to structure.
Went to Workflowy in 2019, but it lacked a lot of features back then, couldn't support paragraphs so the outlines can get overwhelming without proper line spacing. I think a lot has changed since.
Went back to Notion again for the lack of a proper replacement for me
Tried Supernotes next. Good but has some friction with my workflow with the tasks feature
Tried Capacities And gave up TWICE because of the complexity and learning curve, . But on the 3rd try, I gutted through, bought the Pro plan and the difference is immense. A daily user now.

Would be nice to include which ones are free, and the price for the pay apps.

Surprised that Noteplan didn't get a mention here. To me, it seems like a Reflect that's further along.

Damn…. You mentioned dinosaurs like Evernote and OneNote but Craft gets a snub. No way

After 5 year adventure with PKM and note-taking, I recommend 3 apps: Obsidian, Bear, Apple Notes!

What about LogSeq? This app is easy to use and with immense capabilities. However the graphview could be improved as well as the possibility of task management. However, two big advantages are that 1. It is open source and 2. The data is stored on your Mac. Which software do you suggest I could upgrade to in order to keep the functionality and simple use of LogSeq but improve the functionality?

If some of you are in search for something new, I'm launching a new note-taking app (it's free). The main distinctive feature of this app is that there are multiple ways of referecing the same concepts (so for example you can differentiate references that are about concept "X" from references that simply relates to concept "X"), which makes references intrinsically organized. I have a video that explains the whole paradigm. I hope I'm not intruding, just trying to get started !

Tried most of these. Capacities is definitely in the Goldilocks zone for me. Would just like them to add the calendar integration like Reflect.

I love the content but, echoing some of the sentiment in other comments - man, you sped through these like you had some place to be. Another 20 or 30 seconds on each application would have been incredibly helpful.

Capacities works best for me as my PKM and Life OS app

Liked this; can you do one for handwriting recognition, especially with EInk tablets
