Your fear (“heyits…) may be so intense you’re looking to express it, perhaps by looking for dangers without their presence. The syllables are possibly from Hindi words, Sanskrit or another language. Try them in a different order if they remind you of an English word or try different syllables. I don’t think the syllables themselves are doing anything, especially for an English speaker. Yet they are soft, prompt air to be expressed - as sighs do, and by having such mental focus along with physical movement - in this case, of the hands - the mind/body is in rhythmic sync. This syncing may be what brings a greater sense of calm & ease. (This is at the core of yoga, syncing body movement & breath, with or without words or syllables.)

To all looking for an exact prescription, there may be many reasons traditions & rituals have been taught over time. Yet, experiment

Hi, can you please explain how and when to breathe? Do you inhale after the 4 syllabes or inbetween?

Thank you for this awesome video Mia. You mentioned that we could do this mantra either through a normal chant, whisper or silently. That is my question, as I have been reading that I must move through phases; from a normal voice-whisper-silent recitation-whisper and normal voice to end. The thing is that when I am in the silent phase of the mantra recitation, I do not want to move back to a whisper or normal voice, because I am deep in meditation and want to stay there. Can you offer any opinions on this? Does practicing the mantra for the majority of the time in a silent mode, impact the benefits at all? I am practicing the mudras as you suggested. Thanks in advance for your reply.
