Thank you so much! Your video really helped me understand exactly what this book contains because approaching it was super intimidating and I was a bit lost on the set up of it! Now I'm able to enjoy this book.

Just checking and Penguin commissioned a new translation in 2008
So the Ganz translation is 2008 and the Thorpe is 1974
I don't know the differences
I think Penguin are pushing the Ganz
And the Thorpe is back copies
And used copies of the texts.

This is so fascinating. I probably never would have heard of this book if not for this series!

Love your channel! I keep wanting to run out and buy these books. I will check my local library as I already have too many books lol. Don’t have the space you do. Your library behind you looks immense!

Steve, you keep shining light in the Dark Ages! (Then and now . . .)

Much appreciated, I’ve seen a number of these recent Middle Age texts on shelves but have read so few, and these are setting up the next generation of TBR.

That's kind of universal, isn't it? Kjartan couldn't surpass King Olaf in swimming either.:))))

Hey Steve, could you recommend some Matter of France romances. Outside of the Song of Roland, I’m having a little more trouble (well more so than I did with the Arthurian stuff) really pinpointing where to go on my current reading quest.
