"Dentist" from Little Shop. Certainly there are two villains in that movie, and both have great songs. Steve Martin's performance of "Dentist" easily eclipses at least half the songs on this list for the embrace of pure villainy.

It’s not just the Nazis that used such intense nationalism when singing “Tomorrow Belongs to Me”. We see the same intensity on the faces of those singing La Marseilles in Casablanca.

We understand the intensity of those singing La Marseille in Casablanca, particularly when you realise many in that scene were actual Franchised refugees from the Nazis.

I make the point to show it is a matter of perspective- one man’s terrorist is any man’s patriot.

Cabaret is set in 1929/30 before the Nazis had rose to power. It is an accurate reflection of the feelings of a certain proportion of Germans. It is showing how easy it is to appeal to patriotism and justifiable dissatisfaction with the ways things are going in a country, particularly economically (it was the Great Depression).

It reflects how people’s dissatisfaction can be manipulated. Hitler was voted into power. But interestingly the other group, who were also gaining support electorally at the time were the Communists. The same was happening across Europe at the time - the parties representing the extremes were gaining support.

It is also a lesson we need to remember to avoid what happened in the 1930s. Hating people because they have different perspectives from you is the thin edge of the wedge.

I always have a laugh at Rocky Horror; I played Riff Raff for performances and the guy playing Frank N Furter really got into character and at one point teasingly smacked me with a whip; fast forward about 4 years, I was at work and we had a new trainee and my acting experience came up in conversation, it was the same guy. All he said was "wait...that was you?!?" and we both bust out laughing and nobody else really knew why until we explained it. We became good friends
