Repair Android software/Factory reset/Reinstall Android on any Sony Xperia phone

*~~Connecting to my laptop whilst holding volume down button~~*
A useful discovery I just found out is holding the volume up key and the power button for 10 seconds until it vibrates 3 times to shutdown the phone, very handy.
So I got to the part where I hold the volume down key and connect the usb to my laptop. I was stuck on this for ages as it wouldnt go to the next stage - hence why I am here! Anyway I was eventually succesful after keeping the volume down button held for almost 2 whole minutes and then it finally went to the next step. Patience is what I needed here!
And so here I am waiting for the software to do what it has to do... fingers crossed!

Great and informative video. How to resolve the issues with my Pixel -. Overheating while charging, the phone becomes so hot that it is difficult to hold it. 2. The boot screen becomes blank after about 10 seconds, google screen appears and goes off again, and it continues. 3. How to reload the Android 7.1.2 OS on pixel phone ?

Good to see Sony makes it so easy to repair your Xperia devices with it's companion software, my other brand handsets would have been harder to self fix. You mentioned your device does not start, is this a form of "bootloop" issue seen on some other handsets? Does Xperia's ever experienced "bootloop" or becomes "bricked" when updating to a newer version of Android OS?Cheers.

Your video was very clear but no matter how many times I try, the app on the PC does NOT proceed to step 5. I am positive I am pressing the 'volume down' button on the phone whilst inserting the USB cable into the phone after turning the phone off. The phone's light flashes red very briefly but then the phone turns on in 'safe' mode.
Any suggestions? Can I try the factory reset option from the phone?

thank you so much, you saved me and helped me a lot. I rooted my Sony XPeria E4G and after that it was turning wi-fi and 4g network itself and then were popping all kind off advertisment and it was restarting itself. You were the only one who helped me and it worked, thanks and good bless you..

Thanks so much for your great video. I followed your instructions and it took ages to repair (went to bed after waiting over 2 hours) When I checked it in the morning, the message was: An error occurred while repairing your device.
Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact Sony support. I tried a couple more times and the same error occurred. Is the repair done with the sim card in?(mine was). Does the internet connection on the phone have to be active? (or is the repair done exclusively from the downloaded Xperia Companion software on my computer?) My phone is only a few months old, bought on eBay from Hong Kong, the back cover cracked while my partner was putting on the soft case to protect it, the SD card keeps ejecting (had to wrap clear tape around it so it stays wedged in place) and now, the screen goes black as soon as one answers the phone and one sometimes doesn't even hear the caller, or it randomly reboots or turns off then refuses to turn on unless it is plugged in, though the battery is still almost full. Frankly, I appreciate your help but think the phone is a piece of sh..t.
