L's speech is a homage to "Monster" by the greatest manga artist Naoki Urasawa. I'm surprised I only noticed this now.

Loved how Near and Mello who weren't paying attention turned towards the screen at the right moment, as if they knew when L was actually giving useful advice that they can take in the future.
