Truly remembering certain sins haunts me daily. I wish I could forget… until I realize that the remembrance of these sins keeps me from committing them again. Thank you Jesus for forgiveness!!

Exactly. Memory of sin that won't go away is a measure of God's love for you. He is telling you "I am even forgiving you for this (and this and this and this...)"

You are so right, without memory we would go on doing the evil we did, God gave us a beautiful gift of memory so that we would remember when temptation came along..

Shortly after I was saved; I think the Holy Spirit was the one to remind me of certain sins for which I had not dealt with. These particular ones were old and not of my current lifestyle; but the pain they caused me was terrible. I also think Satan chose to attack me at that time to make me think God would not forgive me. The guilt would keep me up at night in tears and deep sorrow. The worst was that I had participated in an abortion. I didn't plan the situation, I didn't push it; I told the woman I would not run, but I didn't fight to stop it. In not stopping it; I had been involved in the murder of an innocent child. Something I never thought I would be a part of. I could not forgive myself and I didn't think God could or maybe even should forgive me. However I was wrong in my thinking. In fact the very second that Jesus saved me all of my sin including that one was washed away as if it never happened. I had to learn to trust in God. To trust in the perfect and complete work of Jesus on the cross. What God had forgiven; I had no business trying to hold. The mighty work that Jesus completed for my benefit was not to be contested. I prayed to God to help me with that guilt and he lifted it. I think while I'm still in the flesh I'll always regret that sin but the overwhelming guilt and condemnation is gone. He who the son sets free is free indeed :)

God casts out our sins every day you are living. But we cannot "forgive" ourselves or others. l have special needs because of my physical disability but I "see" every one as special.

Amen. Memories do come up along with shame and deep deep regret. When this happens I break out with praise and worship. I am knocked to the ground on my knees. I am guilty of breaking every commandment multiple times. I am now moved back to the neighborhood where everyone knows my past. At first I was crushed to the ground however reciting Eph 1: 2-7 saved me from being swallowed up. I am now living as a witness to the accusers I live around but it is not me who now holds my head up but He that dwells within me. Praise to the Most High Master of my life Yahshua.
