As a locksmith I do about 15 of these lock changes a day for about £180 each in London,

Any trade person should be charging a call out fee before any work gets done,

Call out fee £30
First hour is £50 that’s minimum,
Thn every 30 mins is £20

Customer should be covering the cost for everything that involves getting the job done,

did you know that you cannot just arrive with a replacement for a euro lock without seeing it first, they have different lenghts and often are asymetrical. £150 sounds a bit crazy, but £70 can bite you in the ass sometimes (lock originally installed by a butcher - head stripped, or just rusted).

Not to say your average decent euro cylinder isn’t always cheap & if they traveled to the job & need to make money out of the call out so I don’t argue the cost on this. Rarely it’s that straightforward there’s normally a issue as most folk could do this no problem

Wouldn’t use an impact driver though. Trust me, I’ve rounded off a lock screw that way before 😂

Locked out your house : lock smith
New lock : carpenter or maintenance man or just watch YouTube and go buy some screw drivers .
Some people don’t wanna and that’s how we make our money …laziness

I’m a locksmith, the guy in the video is massively misrepresenting what we do, yes it is that simple to change the lock, but your not going to find a high security lock in b&q, nor will you get advice on upgrading a 2 star cylinder to a 3 star rating by upgrading your handles, and say the cylinder got stiff and became intermittent, it’s our years of experience that tells us why that happened, door alignment and keep adjustment can all cause issues with the cylinder.
