When side by side, it's insane how much the matte coating destroys the perceived vibrancy and contrast in a bright environment. You'd think the G4 is the QD-OLED. Samsung's decision baffles me.

At the premium OLED price point I think Samsung is starting to put itself at a disadvantage by not supporting DTS and Dolby Vision. If I was paying top dollar for a flagship TV I would want all the top features available.

You guys are better than Consumer Reports! Very glad you are expanding your range of product reviews. I’ve found your TV and headphone reviews very helpful over the past 7 years.

Both good -- yes, however heat kills electronics, so with that said my money would be on the G4 .

This is the one I've waited for so long. Thank you for the brilliant work.

LG G4 vs A95L would be a nice comparison.

Kinda frustrated by tv reviewers leaving out Samsungs obvious quality control issues and poor customer service.

S90D seems to be the better choice compared to the s95D

No matte coating
No one connect box (dropouts)

The 3D pop that G4 has this year is unreal. Lg made another spec to ''judge'' a tv. Really steped up

Because of the thermal throttling and the crappy coating, even as a QD panel fan, I'd say just get the G4 between the two, or the S90D

Great review and info as usual.

I live in the UK and have seen these tvs side by side or be it in a shop and I couldn't see any real difference and any one buying either of these tvs with a good panal fingers crossed won't regret it.

I've also recently come across certain people slagging off others on YouTube in regards the g4 saying the tech is dead but at the same time buy the g3 it's just as good but cheaper honestly at the end of the day buy what tv you can afford and what is best for you and make sure if possible to demo it the best you can.

I myself have an old tech dead tech Panasonic jz2000 and I'm more than happy with it as I was my previous tv a Panasonic gz2000 which I gave to a relative.

I’m in the heavyweight division and only interested in televisions that are 83” or larger now so for me the G4 is the automatic winner but if I wanted a smaller tv for a brighter room I wouldn’t hesitate to consider the S95D

Wish we could options to choose glossy or matte... instead of having to deal with either because there is no option

You can cleary see the G4 looking much better in detail and sharpness but maybe because the Samsung matte finish though.
But i would for sure go for the Lg G4

How about in dark room viewing, which is the best way to view oleds. Which one do you think is better in that environment?

BUY LG, Samsung's software is extremely buggy and the One Connect Box is more problematic than anything else, trust this QN90A owner...

0:29 look at the huge difference in image, are they calibrated here or out of the box ? because the tomatoes looks orange on the samsung there is clearly something wrong here. or is it the brightness difference since we can easily see the background on the samsung when more difficult to see on the LG (on the bottom part of the image)
or is it just the matte coating creating the strange look on the samsung ?
otherwise thanks to rtings team for the good review and thanks abby for the good presentation.

Thanks for the video! Would you be able to comment on the LG wall mount? I’m going to have to keep my TV at a slight angle and I’m wondering if the built-in mount can handle staying extended

If it wasn't for the matte finish I would take the s95d
