In this Talk of the Metropolis, Prof. Kenneth Leung Mei-yee, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution at City University of Hong Kong, looks at both situations by applying eco-engineering. Prof. Leung and his team have been applying ecological principles to design eco-friendly structures to provide shade, water retention and shelters in the seawalls, greatly increasing the diversity of coastal habitats and promoting the development of coastal ecosystems.
