It's Embarrassing! What SpaceX just did humiliated Blue Origin after New Glenn's Trouble...
"That kind of dynamism and space is big. There's room for a bunch of winners. and it's gonna happen at all skill levels. And so you know, SpaceX is gonna be successful for sure. I want Blue Origin to be successful"
Like any rocket entrepreneur, Jeff Bezos is determined to make Blue Origin a serious contender in the space race, aiming to give SpaceX a real challenge.
To be honest, he actually has the potential to make it happen: Founded two years before SpaceX, Blue Origin has the billionaire's resources backing the ambitious New Glenn rocket, which rivals SpaceX's Falcon 9 in capability.
However, despite these advantages, Blue Origin remains overshadowed by SpaceX, leaving Bezos somewhat of a laughingstock in the space community.
And now Jeff's confusion is compounded as Elon Musk's company continues to do what Blue Origin has long struggled to do.
Find out everything in today's episode.
It's Embarrassing! What SpaceX just did humiliated Blue Origin after New Glenn's Trouble...
Scandals aside, Blue Origin's big New Glenn rocket actually will be a challenger to SpaceX's workhorse Falcon 9 rocket. Founded two years before SpaceX, Blue Origin benefits from Jeff Bezos' deep pockets, which have provided a substantial R and D budget to develop this ambitious rocket.
Standing tall at 320 feet, New Glenn is taller than the 229-foot Falcon 9 and boasts the capability to lift an impressive 45 metric tons to low Earth orbit (LEO). In comparison, Falcon 9 can only manage 22.8 tons, while SpaceX's Falcon Heavy tops out at 63.8 tons.
It's Embarrassing! What SpaceX just did humiliated Blue Origin after New Glenn's Trouble...
One of New Glenn's standout features is its massive seven-meter payload fairing, which offers twice the volume of the standard five-meter class used by many commercial launch systems. This means it can carry larger payloads, making it a game-changer for deploying multiple satellites at once and giving Blue Origin a competitive edge in the commercial launch market.
Its reusable first stage is designed for 25 missions and powered by seven of Blue Origin's BE-4 engines, the powerful liquid oxygen and liquefied natural gas engines. Each BE-4 engine generates 550,000 IBF thrust at sea level with deep-throttle capability. The vehicle's second stage is powered by two BE-3Us, liquid oxygen, and liquid hydrogen engines designed to yield over 320,000 IBF of vacuum thrust together. This makes it more powerful than United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur in its reusable form.
Bezos has stressed New Glenn is key to his plan of cutting launch costs enough to move all polluting industries into orbit. Indeed, with 68 million dollars cost per launch, the Blue’s orbital vehicle is actually a potential factor on the market today.
In short, technologically, New Glenn is very much a commercial heavy-lift launch vehicle to keep an eye on.

Blue Origin is easy to keep an eye on. It never leaves the pad !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Money isn't everything, you have to have a leader with a vision and knowledge and people behind him with brains, dedication and trust in the leader!

Bezo's has the resources. What he lacks is the work force and sheer will to see it through. His slow pace will only cause the gap between SpaceX and Blue Origin to grow. Blue Origin will never be a serious competitor to SpaceX, unless there's a paradigm shift in output. SpaceX will launch dozens of rockets to Blues one, there's no comparison.

Too bad Falcon9 will be phased out once starship is flying missions, what will BO do to compete ?

I thought that the cupola on "inspiration 4" was the largest window in space not "new Shepard" windows!?

How can it rival SpaceX. Bo has done nothing while spacex is going to the moon ! More Bo bull manure!

they have the same mindset as microsoft and disney just throw money at it and it will all workout somehow

Hydrogen propellant is obviously difficult relative to methane. This, coupled with Musk's Mars target, is key to the success of SpaceX. SpaceX is now at least 3 generations ahead in rocket engine development. It's true that hydrogen is theoretically a more efficient propellant (so long as you dont blow out your engines with every launch). Besos' limited vision is likely to place his company's product in a niche due to the limited practical utility/reusability of his engines.

Good Morning my Friend. All Bezos is, Talk. So tell me again what Blue Origin has done. Did I miss something. Like always, Bezos talks like he's leading the back. As long as he stays on the ground. Just Maybe it won't be as embarrassing as Starliner. Maybe. Let's get this New Glenn off of the ground and prove itself before we even begin to talk about putting a multi-billion dollar satellite on top of it. Great update my Friend. Have a Great Day.

I'm a space fan first, SpaceX fan second. I get mocking BO, but they're a traditional aerospace company going at traditional aerospace company speed. SpaceX is an anomaly. I want BO to be successful in their way at their pace, and there's no reason why they can't be. SpaceX will undoubtedly be our workhorse and our bleeding edge space tech company, but there's still so much more BO and the other startups can do to help move humanity off earth. An explosion over NewGlenn in the thumbnail image is a bit much.

Jeffo's Lawsuitpaloosa is about to start. One will be because Jeffo's super duper Uber yatch isn't big enough, and anything that makes Jeffo sad is a lawsuit. Another will be that 90 percent of SpaceX's enganeers have to go to work for Jeffo, and 75 percent of Starlink has to be given to Jeffo because he wants them. Now, let's move on to the Falcons and Super Heavy, Jeffo wants them also.

Not at all nowhere close, NASA has a better chance of being closer to SpaceX then blue origin

All I hear and see is just talk about what it can do, we’ll do something, launch it. Fix the problems later. It’s taking too long, and you might lose payloads if you don’t launch soon.

New Sheppard is a whole failure. Why does it not progress? Only to be a carnival ride is a waste. Its a shame. He has an almost space worthy rocket. Why not evolve it more?
