FYI: To be clear, this is NOT the first lawsuit that’s been brought against the Beachbody corporation. This is the first, to my knowledge however, that has to do with the business structure. I believe it was back in 2017 that BB was sued and settled a case over issues with their auto ship charging people without their consent/full knowledge of the agreement.

Anyway, just wanted to add that! 🙃

Sandlot! And thanks for the “shout-out “ to teachers. My daughter is a teacher and the amount of MLM Huns trying to recruit her the last few years is crazy! Also when she student taught she was battling a pretty bad ED and her teacher was in Beachbody! Talk about toxic. 😢

That whole gig workers law was so ridiculous. It was due to companies like Lyft and Uber having people working for them who were making well under min wage. The ads to pass that law were clearly paid for by lyft and uber to "protect" their gig workers (really being able to continue labeling them as independent contractors to get around min wage laws)

I used to be a beach body coach and there is a lot of gaslighting. Before I started to see the light I totally told people about the “opportunity” while not making any money myself because I thought it was a personal failing of mine and they could do better. Beach body (and maybe other MLMs) also used to say even if you don’t want to really coach, just get two people to sign up so your shakeology is paid for! I think that’s another way they 1. Get more recruits and 2. Have discount coaches sign people up before they realize what they’re getting into.

Sandlot!!!! Thank you for shouting out teachers. I am a high school math teacher, and I too used to coach for bodi. Though not as long as the plaintiff did in the law suit. I realized through my rising anxiety was being caused from the stress each month to get sales and recruit. I only got to emerald and saw I probably wouldn't go further. I still do use bodi though only for the workouts because I highly enjoy them (not AUTUMN lol). Unfortunately I don't think the plaintiff will win because we are considered independent contractors and get those 1099s such as the one I got from Instacart this past year. Good luck to them!

I think I may have favored Beachbody when I was younger bc it fit in perfectly with my ED. Way back when hip hop ads & Brazilian but lift were first introduced. I've been thinking of getting back into working out & my first thought was Beachbody bc it worked for me before but I don't think it ever occured to me how perfectly Beachbody & my ED complimented each other in all the worst ways possible. I never knew they were also an MLM.
