Orochimaru is a very nihilistic and broken antagonist.

Even though we don't see his backstory, he tries to find a purpose in life by commiting chaos and finding meaning.

That's the beauty of part 1 Orochimaru.

*WARNING: Long winded Orochimaru analysis ahead...*

All of Naruto's villains are broken heroes. Orochimaru is usually cast aside from this category and is typically described as being evil for the sake of being evil. *WRONG*. He too is a broken hero. His ideals and convictions are simply a by-product of the shinobi world. Each Naruto villain was shaped by the chaos and conflict caused by the shinobi world. Orochimaru became a nihilist and rejected his morals and believed that life was meaningless. He gave his life the purpose of learning every jutsu and achieve immortality. Jiraiya speculated that the death of his parents while he was young, along with his horror for Tsunade losing Nawaki and later shedding tears when she lost Dan (he initially truly cared for his team), implies that Orochimaru grew to disdain the fragility of human life and how it affected those still living. He craved knowledge, until the day Sasuke rebelled against him and killed him. After the fight with Kabuto, Itachi and Sasuke he decided to watch how Sasuke's life turned out after Sasuke decided on taking his own path by protecting the Leaf instead of destroying it. Watching Kabuto changed his outlook of wanting to copy someone completely. He no longer wanted the sharingan and felt pity on Kabuto for wanting to be like him. During the war, he also began to respect Naruto for working so hard and achieving so much power and further respected him when he allowed his son to attend the academy. In Boruto, he continues to seek out knowledge but in more humane methods.

If they don't do a short spin-off of him that'll be a waste.

I don’t completely agree with him, but I understand where he’s coming from. Life truly does not have a meaning if there isn’t some sort of eternity following. There could be no justice for murder victims or other crimes if not. I don’t agree with him telling that to a child though. As we see later on in the novel, Itachi tries to commit suicide after thinking about what he was just told.

But since you are in this meaningless world, there quite some interesting things you could do while you still here

Life doesn't have to be eternal to find meaning in it. It can be short lived but the goal one has can always have a meaningful impact on someone in more than one way.

people coming to either agree or disagree, it really doesnt matter in the end. Its just another perspective, truth or not, you dont have to accept either. some are existentialist, some realist, some nihilist, some solipsist.

CharlieMustang Life is a path where you will go after you die.

Life is meaning full but it's hard in the others and easy in others.

When you are die all memories in your fast life is flash back.

not all anime characters speak the truth, , you can actually correct them, because what he said is wrong
-
there is meaning in life - and you can create it all by yourself , creating a goal, creating hobbies, building families, building bounds, becoming a hokage , all these things are the meaning of life and they come before dreams - and it also means that we were designed just to do these things as humans, and nothing elese, but what if you spend your entire life in one white room where you cant escape, with no goal, no expetectation, no, family, no friends, no hobbies, then you can say that life has no meaning

His philosophy is understandable, but very twisted. I agree with what he said about death, but with life, the only meaning it has is the one you give it
